Ah darn No Yang? Id vote for AOC or Brown if these were the options
Yang did not run in this timeline because he just became the New York mayor. He has not endorsed anyone yet.

Ocasio-Cortez: 11.9%
Newsom: 10.7%
Buttigieg: 10.1%
Booker: 9.1%
Klobuchar: 5.6%
Brown: 5.2%
Abrams: 4.8%
Kennedy III: 4.5%
O'Rourke: 3.9%

2024 Republican Primary Polling:

Jul. 19-20, 2023: First Primary Debates:

Wikimedia Commons

July 19, 2023: Democratic Debate:
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Winners: Cuomo, Ocasio-Cortez, Booker, Brown
Losers: Harris, Klobuchar, Kennedy III, O'Rourke

Highlights: The first Democratic debate was very chaotic. Many progressive candidates fought hard and attacked moderates. It was considered a big win for the progressives in the Democratic party. Progressive New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a huge night and landed many successful attacks on the frontrunner in the race: Vice President Kamala Harris. There was very little criticism of President Biden during the debate and progressives tried to avoid to criticize him. Moderates Joe Kennedy III and Beto O'Rourke tried to attack their progressive rivals but failed at that. His attacks did not gain any momentum for his campaign. Many important topics came up during the debate, including Climate Change, Income Inequality, Health Care, and Foreign Policy.

July 20, 2023: Republican Debate:
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Winners: Haley, Rubio, Trump Jr.
Losers: Pence, DeSantis

Highlights: The first Republican debate was not chaotic and there were very few attacks on other candidates, unlike the Democratic debate and Republican Presidential debates in 2015 and 2016. Many candidates spoke well and there was a lot of criticism of the Biden administration and the work that has been done during it so far. Many believe that Ambassador Haley spoke very well and she is solidified her place as the frontrunner in the race. Vice President Pence was disappointing and seemed to lack energy during the debate. He was expected to do well and many believe that he underperformed in the debate. Trump Jr. seemed to have a lot of energy like his father but did not attack his opponents in the same way his father did in 2016. Many Republicans have said that they are intrigued by Trump Jr. and might consider voting for him in early 2024.

Jul. 28, 2023: Turkey returns Northern Syria to Assad's government

Wikimedia Commons

Turkish and Syrian negotiations have ended and they have reached a deal. Turkey will return the region in Northern Syria that they are occupying currently. A large part of this area is where ethnic Kurds live and they were doing very well until 2019 when the United States, a Turkish ally, removed all of their forces from the region. This marks the end of the Syrian civil war, which began in 2011. President Biden has refused to reestablish diplomatic relations with Syria.

Aug. 23, 2023: House Investigation of Hunter Biden

Wikimedia Commons

A private investigator will investigate President Biden's son, Hunter Biden and his company. Hunter worked for the Ukrainian energy company Burisma from 2014 to 2019. It came out in March, that Hunter and his company took bribes from Ukraine. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has also announced that they will also investigate Hunter Biden to see if it connects at all to President Joe Biden. When asked to comment on this, President Biden stated, "my son, Hunter did not do anything that effects the legitimacy of this administration or the Biden family. I support him and am very proud of Hunter as his father.

Loving this! I'm glad that Yang became Mayor but would like to see him run for president again. Maybe the Yang Gang will be back in 2028 if a Republican wins.

I'm undecided who I would support in this timeline. I'm leaning toward either Klobuchar or Baker.

Sept. 13-14, 2023: Second Primary Debates:

Wikimedia Commons

September 13, 2023: Republican Debate:
Location: Orlando, Florida
Winners: Pence, Hawley, Trump Jr.
Losers: Cruz, DeSantis

Highlights: The second Republican debate was very interesting and included many attacks by many different candidates. This time, Vice President Mike Pence did very well and reinstated his position of the frontrunner in the Republican primary. Missouri senator Josh Hawley also did very well in this debate. Hawley who is only 43 years old, came out as a young youthful conservative who is a dark-horse candidate in the Republican primary. President Trump's son, Trump Jr. had another strong performance in this debate. Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis both had poor performance and looked like establishment and uninspiring. DeSantis' poor response to the Covid-19 pandemic came up in the debate. He was attacked by many of his Republican rivals including Pence and Haley.

September 14, 2023: Democratic Debate:
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Winners: Ocasio-Cortez, Newsom
Losers: Abrams, O'Rourke

Highlights: The second Democratic debate was not nearly as chaotic as the first Democratic debate. There were not many winners or losers in this debate but a few candidates did stand out. First, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had another standout performance. She did very well and her opponents stood no chance against her in the debates. California Governor Gavin Newsom also did very well and had a very good performance in the debate. Newsom stood out from many of the other candidates and showed that he is a strong candidate for moderates in the Democratic party including those who voted for President Biden in 2020. Two other moderate Democrats, Georgia governor Stacey Abrams and former Texas Representative Beto O'Rourke had poor performances in the debate. Both tried to make attacks and counter-arguments to progressives like Ocasio-Cortez, but those did not work and were not successful.

First of all, great timeline.  I can actually see this happening.  Hope you continue with it.

Does Trump suffer legal consequences for his actions now that he is a private citizen, especially given he is leaving office before the statute of limitations runs out?

Nov. 15-16, 2023: Third Primary Debates:

Wikimedia Commons

November 15, 2023: Democratic Debate:
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Winners: Harris, Klobuchar, Buttigieg
Losers: Kennedy III, O'Rourke, Ocasio-Cortez

Highlights: The third Democratic debate was very chaotic and it was generally considered a success for the moderate candidates in the race. Vice President Harris had a very strong performance and her attacks on fellow candidates were successful. She took credit for a lot of the accomplishments in the Biden administration including new liberal justices on the Supreme Court and bills passed in congress. Ambassador Buttigieg also had a successful night and stood out. Harris did a successful job with her attacks on Beto O'Rourke and Joe Kennedy III. New York Representative Ocasio-Cortez attacks on moderates Klobuchar and Buttigieg were not successful.

November 16, 2023: Republican Debate:
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Winners: Haley, Baker
Losers: Cruz

Highlights: The third Republican debate was considered very boring compared to the prior debates and the Democratic debate. There were not many attacks on fellow candidates. They did attack the Democratic party and the Biden administration. Spending and Immigration were the topics that were discussed the most in the debate. An interesting topic that was also discussed in the debate was climate change. Massachusetts Governor Baker, Ambassador Haley, and Florida Senator Rubio agreed that climate change is a huge issue and both agreed that the United States needs to lead the world to stop climate change. Texas Senator Cruz and Florida Governor DeSantis both downplayed climate change as a global and important issue affecting modern society.

Trump could receive some legal consequences for his actions but that is probably unlikely. Jared Kushner could receive some consequences for something like a financial crime. Not sure exactly.

Thanks for the support!

Jan. 9, 2024: O'Rourke, Kennedy III, DeSantis drop out

Wikimedia Commons

Today, three candidates, two Democrats and one Republican dropped out of the 2024 Presidential Race.

Texas Democrat and former Representative Beto O'Rourke announced today that he will be dropping out of the Democratic primary. He did not get much support among Democrats and continued to have poor performances in the debates. O'Rourke has announced that he will run for Senate in Texas against incumbent Senator Ted Cruz. Beto ran for Senate in 2018 and lost by 2.6 points. Massachusetts Democratic Senator Joe Kennedy III announced that he will drop out of the Democratic Primary. Kennedy is the grandson of Robert Kennedy and great nephew of President Jack F. Kennedy. Although Kennedy was polling fairly well in the Northeast, his poll numbers in the rest of the country were not encouraging. Both O'Rourke and Kennedy have just endorsed Ambassador Buttigieg for President.

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he will be dropping out of the Republican primary. DeSantis was not polling well and did not come off well in the debates. He seemed to be boring compared to the other candidates. Governor DeSantis has endorsed Vice President Mike Pence for President, who is the frontrunner is the race.

2024 Democratic Presidential Candidates
VP Kamala Harris (D-CA)
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA)

Very, very doubtful DeSantis would endorse Pence especially this early and with Rubio still in the Race.

Jan. 10-11, 2024: Fourth Primary Debates:

Wikimedia Commons

January 10, 2024: Republican Debate:
Location: Houston, Texas
Winners: Pence, Haley
Losers: Cruz, Trump Jr.

Highlights: The fourth Republican debate was the Republican debate with the most attacks and action so far. There were clear winners and losers in this debate. Pence and Haley easily were the winners of this debate. Both led in speaking time and dominated over their opponents, especially Haley. Senator Cruz and Trump Jr. both did not do well in the debate and were losers in this one. Trump Jr, who has done well in the primary debates and has risen in the polls as a result, did not have a good performance in this one. Senator Cruz had another poor performance with calls for him to drop out of the race. Cruz was the runner-up to President Trump in the 2016 Republican Primary, eight years ago.

January 11, 2024: Democratic Debate:
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Winners: Newsom, Cuomo, Booker
Losers: Harris, Brown

Highlights: The fourth Democratic debate was very different compared to past debates and yesterday's Republican debate. The night was considered a win for California Governor Newsom, New York Governor Cuomo, and New Jersey Senator Booker. All three of these candidates stood out in the debate and got there messages across well. Although, the night was not a loss for Vice President Harris, it was not a great night for her. She was attacked by Progressive New York Democrat Ocasio-Cortez, who herself did not have the best night either. But Cortez's attacks did hurt Harris, especially when she questioned Harris' record on Criminal Justice. Minnesota Moderate Democrat Amy Klobuchar did not have a strong night. She tried to go on the offensive in this debate but she was not successful at that. She tried to attack Ambassador Buttigieg's record but her attacks were not successful in the eyes of voters, especially in Iowa.

Post-Debate Polling

2024 Republican Primary Polling:
Pence: 25.2%
Haley: 23.8%
Rubio: 16.1%

Cruz: 5.5%

2024 Democratic Primary Polling:

Buttigieg: 13.5%
Newsom: 13.1%
Booker: 9.7%
