Apr. 6, 2026: Reparations Bill passes in the Senate

Wikimedia Commons

Today, the Reparations bill proposed by Democrats has passed in the Senate. The vote was 50 in favor of the bill and 50 senators voting against. Vice President Buttigieg was present at the vote and broke the 50-50 tie in favor of the bill, moving it to the House. 49 Democrats voted for the bill, while 2 Democrats, Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). 1 Republican, Liberal Senator Phil Scott (R-VT) voted for the bill, while every other Republican voted against it. The bill will now move to the House of Representatives, where the result is uncertain. The chamber is controlled by Republicans with a slight majority.

The Reparations bill will invest $500 billion in black communities, which includes $10,000 to every American who we descendants of slaves, mostly black Americans. The bill will be payed through a Wall Street speculation tax.

Apr. 19, 2026: Final meeting on Climate Change occurs between White House, Congressional Democrats, Republicans, no agreement reached.

Wikimedia Commons

Today, President Harris, Vice President Buttigieg, Senate and House Democrats and Republicans met today about Climate Change, for the final time and they have still come to an agreement after four meetings. Inside sources report, that President Harris, and Democrats are unhappy with Republicans and are going to draft their own plan, that can appeal to some moderate Republicans in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. The reports of their plan is below.

The Democrats' bill consists of the following. The United States will cut 70% of emissions and fracking, and will try to get to net zero by the year 2050, in 24 years. Solar and wind power will be promoted and incentivized throughout the United States. The United States will adapt a widespread carbon tax, and will reduce the estate tax slightly. Finally, the United States will prepare and adapt for some possible effects of Climate Change like rising sea levels and natural disasters by giving aid and preparing for changes in the environment in susceptible areas throughout the United States. Many Democrats, especially progressives are very disappointed with the deal and have voiced that parts of the Green New Deal should have been included. The deal is likely to pass the Senate and it is uncertain if it will pass in the House.

Could she do that as an executive order later on in the future?

It's possible. It isn't being considered yet, but in the future it is possible.

Jun. 1, 2026: House investigations stalled, impeachment not happening (for now)

Wikimedia Commons

Investigations on Harris' record as Attorney General and as prosecutor have stopped for now, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has announced. It is unclear if the Republicans have found anything that is worthy of impeachment or wrongdoing by President Harris. Speaker fo the House McCarthy was asked why the investigations are stalled and he refused to comment. Many believe, that nothing new was found and recent polls have showed that impeachment of President Harris is very unpopular among most Americans, including many Republicans. McCarthy did say that investigations of President Harris might resume later in the year but for now his party is focusing on other important issues. Many are also wondering if an impeachment vote in the House would even pass. Republicans only have 220 members, and they would need 218 votes to officially "impeach" Harris. Every Republican would have to vote for the bill, except two. At least a few Republicans would abstain or vote against impeachment in the House.

News coverage of the House investigation also stopped due to other issues taking priority. The news media, which generally is left-leaning also disagreed with the investigations and their coverage was negative towards the Republicans. Many are relieved that an impeachment inquiry won't happen in the foreseeable future, as it is very controversial and it divides our nation, as we saw with the Trump impeachment in 2019 and early 2020.

Jun. 14, 2026: Democrats' climate bill passes in the House

Wikimedia Commons

Today, the Climate change bill drafted by Democrats, after Democrats and Republicans could not come to an agreement, has passed in the House of Representatives. Climate Change has been a top issue of the Harris Administration, and Biden Administration before that. Climate Change is a huge issue that has gotten worse every year. President Harris, and Congressional Democrats and Republicans came to an agreement in mid-April and it consists of the following. Many progressive Democrats wanted a more aggressive plan and were disappointed but most have said that they will support the bill as it is a "huge step in the right direction," as Massachusetts Senator Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) said.

The vote in the house was 228 in favor of the bill, with 207 votes against. Every Democrat voted for the bill, and they were joined by 13 Republicans, mostly moderates in the party. The bill will now move to the Senate where it is likely to pass, were Democrats have a slight majority.

I changed the results of the vote in the house. I also realized that the bill was not realistic and Republicans likely would not come to an agreement with Democrats, many of whom including President Harris are very progressive. The bill still passed in the House, but in a close vote.

The vote was 54 in favor and 46 against. 3 Republicans, voted for the bill Sen. Romney (R-UT), Murkowski (R-AK), and Scott (R-VT), all moderate Republicans. Sep. 1, 2026: Reports: Republicans, Freedom Caucus very angry with House Speaker McCarthy

Wikimedia Commons

Reports just came out about Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy and his position as speaker. Many Republicans, notably the Freedom Caucus, led by Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH). Republicans are angry at McCarthy and his willingness to meet and compromise with Democrats and President Harris. Many are also angry about McCarthy and the House leadership decision to end investigations against President Harris. Jim Jordan spoke a few months ago, and said that Republicans in the House, should open an impeachment inquiry. In June, Republicans in the House unexpectedly stopped investigations on President Harris and her time as a prosecutor and Attorney General of California. Many questioned why Republicans, led by Speaker McCarthy chose to do this. Polls did show that the majority of Americans, disapproved of the investigations and 71% do not support an impeachment of President Harris, this includes 65% of Independents and 42% of Republicans.

There are rumors about a possible ousting of McCarthy and a change of leadership in the House. If this does happen, it would resemble what we saw in September 2015, when then Republican Speaker John Boehner resigned and was replaced by former Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI). It is unclear if this will happen and if the majority of Republicans would support a change in leadership.

Sep. 12, 2026: Deadly Hurricane & Floods in Miami, Southern Florida

Wikimedia Commons

Breaking news. A deadly hurricane has just hit Miami and has had very bad effects. The hurricane was designated a category five hurricane, and is called Hurricane Dana. It is considered the worst hurricane since Hurricane Katrina which ravaged New Orleans, Louisiana, and nearby states. The hurricane lasted a week and has had long term effects on communities in southern Florida. As of today, there are over 50 missing people and many dead. The hurricane is considered an effect of Climate Change, which has made many more aware of the effects of Climate Change. President Harris spoke today about the importance of fighting Climate Change and the successes of her administration so far. President Harris, and Democrats drafted a bill that was passed in both chambers of congress in early July. President Harris did say that there is more work to be done to stop Climate Change. Resources will be sent to Florida to deal with the effects of the hurricane and to help victims. Climate Change is a huge issue that will be a deciding factor in which party comes out victorious in the midterm elections in less than two months.

Yup. That is correct. I see that happening. He'll likely retire after this term in 2032.

Also, This timeline will not go on until then anyway.

Yup. I agree with you. Every year our country is becoming even more polarized.
Currently there are 9 current split delegations. There likely will be less after 2020. I think there will be 6 after 2020.

Jan. 25, 2027: Kamala Harris will run for a 2nd Term

Wikimedia Commons

Today, President Kamala Harris has announced that she indeed will run for a second term again in 2028, as expected. Harris' administration has been a success in the eyes of most Democrats and a good amount of independent voters. Rumors have spread of a possible progressive challenger, who might challenge Harris in the Democratic primaries. Many progressives, many former Sanders supporters in 2016 and 2020, and AOC supporters in 2024 want a different candidate than Harris in 2028. A poll showed that 20% of Democrats would support a different progressive candidate over Harris in 2028. There is speculation that AOC might run in 2028, but she has not announced anything yet.

The Republican primaries will likely be more contested than the Democratic primaries as there is no incumbent to run against in the primaries. Many expect Ambassador Nikki Haley, Senator Josh Hawley, and others to run in 2028.

Jan. 31, 2027: Haley, Hawley announce runs for President

Wikimedia Commons

Today, two Republicans, Ambassador Nikki Haley and Missouri Senator Josh Hawley have both announced runs for President in 2028, seeking the Republican nomination. Both ran in 2024 and had very different outcomes in the primaries.

Haley served as the Governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and resigned to become the Ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump Administration. Haley was the runner-up to former Vice President Mike Pence in 2024 primary. The 2024 Republican National Convention went in contested as neither candidate received enough delegates to win the primary outright. At the convention, Pence got enough delegates to become the nominee with Haley finishing in second place.

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley was elected in 2018 and once again in 2024. He ran in 2024 and did not receive much support and dropped out after the New Hampshire primary. Hawley was and still is considered a fresh face in the Republican party and is very popular among Republicans, especially among younger voters in the Republican Party. Both Hawley and especially Haley are frontrunners in the 2028 Republican Primaries. More Republicans are expected to announce runs for President in the coming days and weeks.

Feb. 10, 2027: Schumer to retire from the Senate, AOC to run for Senate and not for President

Wikimedia Commons
