Now that most of us have more time on our hands, and certainly more time sitting around at home, a lot of people, myself included, have been playing more computer games to de-stress and pass the time. What are you playing?

I have very particular taste (roguelike-likes), so I've booted up a modern classic - FTL - again. Having a blast. May pick up OOTP 21 in the next few days, too, or convince a few friends to play Don't Starve Together.

Darkest Hour, roleplaying WW2 yet again. Can't seem to tire from that game, even if there's more modern alternatives. Have also replayed several classic Megaman games - the NES ones - out of a sudden attack of nostalgia.

I think my personal preference would be to re-play either a Persona game or one of the Final Fantasy titled I liked to play several years ago (probably IV or VII), but I continue to resist doing so because of just much time it would take me away from certain obligations.

Also, if anyone is interested in a Civ 5 Deity challenge (someone posts a map, people play it, and posts an AAR), I'd be happy to roll a map and host.

Make that Civ 3, and find me a version of Civ 3 that will run on a 2013 mac book, and be prepared for the near certainty that I will bail on you in the Middle Ages, and I am in.

Sad

Can't do this now because I have deadlines to meet If we're still in rona-induced lockdown in May I will seriously consider self-funding and joining you.

In the meanwhile if you want to co-work while listening to the civ 3 soundtrack on youtube hmu

Probably an "advanced newb." I used to play a lot when I was growing up but it's been very intermittent since high school. I only asked because the few times I made an effort to play others, it was a bloodbath. Turns out that up to AoE HD, the only people left playing that game were battle-hardened experts lol.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that Minecraft is the most Libertarian game ever created. The destroyers of human creativity don't want you to play this game, because it presents you with the opportunity to live a purely free existence in a stateless society where you must provide for yourself. Rather than forcing you to live vicariously through the eyes of a stranger, as first-person shooters do, Minecraft encourages aspiring creators to physically mold the world around them to sustain their own life. This is the life-affirming philosophy of the Nietzschean Ubermensch: The man who lives his life to its utmost fullest potential, regretting nothing. The Minecraft player is the fully realized man-- master over all beasts, slayer of monsters, adventurer, entrepreneur, strongman, builder, farmer, creator of his own means of life. This man does not stand passively by to be railroaded into a "narrative" by the game's designers. His experience in the game is his own and is utterly unique. He tears coal from the womb of the earth, he lights the world with torches, and he creates a reality and a truth for himself that no one else could have provided for him. His goals are whatever he wants them to be, and his means of achieving them are his own two hands. Unchain yourself from the shackles of mental submission provided by conventional gameplay. Your mind is an infinite well of creation and Minecraft is its blank canvas. Use it! Utilize your innate human potential, and find your own truth in the way that only you can-- do not rely on the jingoistic authoritarianism of Call of Duty or Battlefront to provide your life with meaning, create it for yourself! Build a home! Brave the depths of fiery hell! Slaughter wild animals using the tools you crafted with your bare hands! Only then will you know what it truly means to be free. Yes, free-- in a richer, fuller sense of the word than the FPS fans of the world dare to dream of. These "gamers" are not your allies. They are not your friends. They are brainwashed authoritarians, leeching human life of all its meaning. To them, nothing is left up to you or your own free will. They believe that true meaning can only be found in the rigid confines of a story written by another-- finite, narrow, and fleeting. They believe that you ought to live endlessly through these "stories" until, like a creature confined to a small, damp cave for the duration of its miserable existence, you grow stunted, pale, and blind, with no imagination whatsoever. This is not your destiny unless you make it so. Wrest control of your life's trajectory back from these thieves of the soul! You are not a mindless automaton in another person's story, you have free will! You are man, and you can think and work with your hands! It is you who first learned the secrets of soil and harvest, you who bridged gulfs with stone and steel, you who caused aircraft and rockets and skyscrapers to lift from the ground! Use this power! Use the tremendous wealth of creativity that nature has imbued in you to shape your surroundings in your own image!

I will make company with creators, with harvesters, with Minecraft YouTubers: I will show them the rainbow and the stairway to the Superman-- the one that lives in all of us, yearning to break free.

If you go on Voobly, it's all battle-hardened experts.  AoE HD has its fair share of noobs, but you have to look for them.  If you're familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of each civ, know what each tech/unit does without having to look at it, and can get up through the ages relatively quickly, you're at about the level where you should be competitive on HD.  There's a handful of YouTube videos and guides on build orders and things like that that were very eye-opening for me when I first started trying to play online.

Been playing Civ5, Battlefield 5 and iRacing.

Good mix of genres, and all top quality.

Careful what you wish for. Smiley I was the first person on civfanatics to succesfully do a pure sacred sites culture victory on Immortal Continents (although I'm far from the best player on those forums), and can routinely achieve pre-Dynamite Domination victories with crossbows only.

If Assassin’s Creed is as good on the PC as it is on the console then get that game . I just downloaded Unity a week and a half ago on my PS4 and finished the campaign today . It was really really fun to play

I think once me and my pal won a domination victory on Deity; I was playing as Venice.

I've been meaning to start playing competitive Overwatch again after quite a few months of not bothering but I haven't got round to it, mostly as making sure my mechanical skill gets back to where it was will take a little while.
Otherwise I've mostly just been playing Minecraft and a few other odd games when I'm not doing something else, which to be honest, is more often than I thought it would be at the beginning of all this.

I'm in for a Civ V MP game later if people want to play. Can link my discord as well, I might be able to get some other people I play Paradox games with to join too, we've occasionally gotten a good game going.

In that respect, I picked up EU4 again after not playing for a year (although I have 2k hours in the game).
