I draw a 75-pixel wide outline of the map of a place to be avatared, and letter with the guidelines below:

(the top-right 2x8 patch shows which colors make up the avatars and which colors to use for internal lettering)

Byzantium actually looks a little like the Soviet hammer and sickle.

This is literally the first time I've attempted anything like this (so sorry in advance if these are kind of weird lol) but I made some Hungary avatars:

I'm not sure if this has been addressed before, but how is integration with the main site going to work now? (i.e. Predictions, Endorsements, etc.) Will it stay connected or will ties be severed entirely, or some kind of middle ground be reached. I already see that my predictions and endorsement histories have been wiped, so I feel that that doesn't bode well for the future, but a clear answer would be nice.

Guys, sorry for the pet peeve but PLEASE make sure if you're making an avatar not to have overlapping black pixels! It hurts my (and i'm sure others' too) eyes! Of course, thank you for all the effort.

EDIT: to clarify, I meant CONNECTED black pixels on the outline of countries/states, etc. Do have them diagonally touching but not side-by-side, or, god forbid, more. I believe this is the guidelines previously and initially followed, so that should not be an issue either way.

There are definitely some exceptions, though. The New York avatar, for example, has a lot of "stacked" pixels, although I agree they do look better when it's minimized.

I don't know what the specific font is, Lourdes, but I use the template I posted for letters.

The letters are formed by arranging pixels manually; so D - IA, for example, would be

You can use existing avatars as templates, I'm pretty sure we have one for each of the normal letters.

I just copy and paste from existing avatars, with the only important thing to note being the white letters aren't actually white - they're transparent, I think.

They're not transparent and the font is just Times size 9 (iirc)

Predictions/endorsements on the profile page now work again. I'm working on getting them up for your mini-profile next to forum posts.
