Maybe i missed a discussion during my 4 year absence but why do we create new threads all the time when we get to 100 pages? Is it a load time thing?

The site owner apparently wants threads capped around 2,000 replies. I don't know why he wants that.

https://www.wesh.com/article/cruise-ship-sick-people-headed-to-florida/31917141

Quote
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —
A cruise ship with 42 sick people aboard is heading to Florida and is expected to dock next week.

The people --13 guests and 29 crew members -- aboard Holland America's Zaandam are experiencing flu-like symptoms, a statement from the cruise line said.

Initially, the ship was granted permission to disembark in Punta Arenas, Chile, but it was later rescinded. No testing for coronavirus is available on the ship, according to the statement.

"Since it is flu season, and COVID-19 testing is not available on board, it is difficult to determine the cause of these elevated cases at this time," the statement said.

All 1,243 guests have been asked to stay in their staterooms as the ship sails to Fort Lauderdale. It is expected to dock March 30.

That's not gonna happen considering Trump wants to open everything back up.

Wow. How many are in New York alone?

210 (192 in the City proper) + 44 in New Jersey.

A very young school principal (in her 30s) was the latest casualty named. Sad

Why don’t we have a national lockdown yet?

Because we live in a federal constitutional republic of 4 million square miles and 330 million people.

A post-Corona-virus future looks like a pretty bright light at the end of all of this.

Here is one of the first videos of an Australian man, Tim McLean, reporting via video from the streets of Wuhan as he goes outside shopping for food after a long isolation period having been quarantined for over 60 days.

In January, Tim helped report some of the feeling on the streets at the start of the pandemic, and subsequently missed out on his evacuation flight to Australia by a matter of hours, and was stuck inside the hot zone near one of the major hospitals in Wuhan.

Really, really happy and proud that Washington seems to be getting a grip on this even though the initial response was hampered by a lack of testing resources and the federal government failing to take the situation seriously for several weeks.

Wuhan did what it had to do to flatten the curve (not to praise the CCP's response in general, it was abysmal and inhumane in many ways). The US clearly isn't.

Here is the map that Rachel Maddow showed on her show from the Kinsa Thermometer

What is this supposed to show?

Spikes in the reporting of flu-like symptoms, which could, according to epidemiologists like the UK’s Prof Chris Whitty, be considered to likely be mild case of COVID-19.

It’s less about these infected people, and more about how widely the virus has likely disseminated in the US.

It would be surprising if it maps that, since per capita confirmed cases has been relatively low in Florida, and much higher in Washington state.

19 Italian doctors have so far died and a total of 4,000 healthcare workers in Italy have contracted Corona-virus.

Comparing Washington and Florida is (ahem) apples and oranges.  There's a vast difference in testing rates.

It seems the lowest category in that map doesn't seem to really have any high population counties. Those counties are mostly rural.

Are you serious?
Did he sell the car, because he needed money, or literally because he thinks the world is coming to an end? That's crazy stuff.
How old is your friend? Does he not have family to shelter with and seek emotional help?
