Brian Kemp in 2018
The Zodiac Killer in 2012 (He's actually quite nice in person, if a little awkward)
Kevin Stitt in 2018
Robert Bentley in 2010
Dan Crenshaw in 2018

Also if we include top-two primary winners in California and Washington, pretty much all the Dems who flipped Republican seats in 2018 came second in the jungle primaries, for Congress and state legislature.

Nathan Deal came in second in the primary for GA Gov in 2010, but defeated Karen Handel in the runoff

Jumping off of this, Cox, Hill, & Porter's incumbent GOP opponents all won a majority of the vote in the primary before going on to lose to the Dems in November.

One of the analysts at Sabato once said not to take too much stock of jungle primary results, since they're usually bad indicators of how well someone will do in the fall. I don't think ANYBODY predicted Cox's trajectory into the House (I certainly thought he was doomed the second he entered the race).

According to Wikipedia, there were just 2 candidates and Bentsen unseated Yarborough (no runoff): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970_United_States_Senate_election_in_Texas#Democratic_primary

My bad it was 1972 when the runoff happened and he was 500 votes short. He probably would have still lost in 1972 against a republican incumbent.

Thad Cochran finished as runner-up in the primary and then beat McDaniel narrowly in the open primary runoff.
