As soon as Biden gets momentum, he suddenly overtakes Bernie as the most electable candidate in national polls. Is it just me or, is it that whomever is perceived to have the momentum in the primary tends to fare best in H2H GE polling?

It's not just you, it's a common trend. I'm pretty sure there was a point in 2011 when polls showed Herman Cain as the "most electable", lol.

These are 2008-12 margins, and 2/3rds Senate filibuster proof margins. If the PVI equates to 70 M to 65 M Dem

Sure, there is absolutely merit to that. Generally speaking pre-nomination H2H polls are close to useless. Pre-nomination polls for Trump looked horrible in 2016, for instance. Once the nomination happens and the campaigns get going is when you can use these.

It's not just you, it's a common trend. I'm pretty sure there was a point in 2011 when polls showed Herman Cain as the "most electable", lol.

Probably the same reason why you see a drop in third party support as the election gets closer, when there is one--people aren't willing to vote for this or that candidate until they're faced with the prospect of the other side winning.
