I remember that in the primaries, particularly in the early stages, Obama had some problems with Hispanic voters: they usually backed Hillary Clinton, sometimes in decisive numbers...thanks to them she could win Nevada caucuses, her only victory in a State caucus, and not by landslide but solidly California and Arizona...despite this, the same day of CA and AZ votes, which were on Super Tuesday, Obama barely missed in New Mexico, losing it only by around 1 point...so, he in that stage had some "problems" with Hispanics, but almost won the most Latino State in the country( by percentage), and it wasn't even a caucus( where he was hugely stronger than HRC)...any reason?

Maybe Richardson’s endorsement helped?

It seems like it may not have been a traditional primary. It looks like it was a kind of party-run quasi-primary. That may explain the discrepancy between NM and the neighboring states. Curiously, NM was very close in 2016 as well - more so than I would have expected given demographics and it’s placement in the calendar.
