That actually means that moderate vote is split, not that Sanders is the choice of moderates.

I saw him say that, but the terminology is ambiguous.  It could mean people who voted before today, but could also mean people who are voting today but showed up in line early.  (E.g., those only showing up at 11:55am wouldn't be included in the first wave of the entrance poll.)
