Mississippi governor says he won't run for president

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

JACKSON, Miss. -- Republican Gov. Haley Barbour said Tuesday he will not run for president in 2008 because he is too busy with Hurricane Katrina's aftermath.

It was his most definitive statement to date about his political future.

The former GOP national chairman said he intends to seek a second term as governor in 2007.

Had he decided to run, I doubt he would have had much of a chance at the nomination.
