Bummer. He's making a mistake. All the top offices (governor, Senator) are going to be taken up for a long time starting in 2008.

I can't understand this and I agree that most of the important state-wide positions will be filled by 2008.  In this case perhaps he simply isn't interested?

Early polls show him with either a slight lead or slight disadvantage against the likely GOP candidate Beauprez.

Ritter is actually a fair candidate.  His pro-life views make him able to appeal to moderates and swing voters.  I seem to recall reading that he was shown far ahead of Marc Holtzman in a poll.

I say the Dems chances on this went from about 60% to 40%.  It still will be a very interesting race.
