Freedom poll! Phil Scott is a big time FF moderate hero who deserves reelection.

It's really stunning how this state gives landslides to Bernie and a moderate Republican at the same time.

Scott might have to worry more about losing the Republican primary than the general. He just endorsed Bill Weld for president, who’s trailing Trump by 79 points (85/6) in this poll, and even in Vermont I’d wager that his primary opponent (in spite of his obviously underfunded campaign) is more in tune with the majority of R voters than Scott.

This is certainly true

But given that he one at the absolutely low point of his approval because of gun laws, and that Vermont is open primary. I'd say that the Vermont GOP Primary is still likely Scott given his weak opponent. With a strong opponent and Trump perhaps going to the state, then a Lean-or worse.

But I don't see the GOP doing that, if Phil doesn't win the nomination then this seat flips.

I said that too in another thread in response to a ridiculous post that said “Trump could lose the Republican primary in Vermont over this!” Which is LOL

Scott is at 55 percent,  if election were held today, he would win 55-45, which is meaningless and Bernie is gonna be the nominee for Dems. Same in NH, Sununu is gonna lose based on veto of minimum wage bill

Couldn't Scott just run as indepdenent then? He would beat the Democrat and the Republican handily.

Zuckerman is a good recruit and with Bernie as the nominee and minimum wage is going thru NH, still think Sununu and Scott are gone. The way the polls closed fast last time, Sununu almost lost

Well, not everyone is an extreme partisan. I tend to support mostly Democrats, for example, but when i see reasonable Republican - i surely consider (and frequently - support) him/her... And my "role model" in politics IS a Republican: Charles Mathias..

VT and NH always come home right before the electiom; whereas Galloway and Cooney are in states where Trump is gonna win them, no matter what.

Voting to keep your party’s President as the nominee =/= automatically ousting Phil Scott in a primary.  Both will win their VT GOP primaries by absolute landslides.
