Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Republic of Atlasia in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “Support Our Steelworkers Act of 2020”.

SECTION 2. PROHIBITION ON IMPORTATION OF STEEL PRODUCTS.

For the 5-year period beginning on the 15th day after the date of the enactment of this Act, any article classified under chapter 72 or 73 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule may not enter the customs territory of the Republic of Atlasia.

You can only sponsor one thing at a time so you'd have to choose to either sponsor this or the affirmative action bill. You also don't need someone to second a motion to assume sponsorship - so you can simply object then motion yourself.

That said, if you chose to sponsor this bill, then I'm fine with withdrawing my motion and letting you sponsor.

SECTION 2. DUTIES PROHIBITION ON THE IMPORTATION OF STEEL PRODUCTS.

For the 5-year period beginning on the 15th day after the date of the enactment of this Act, any article classified under chapter 72 or 73 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule may not enter the customs territory of the Republic of Atlasia.
(a) A permanent tariff rate of 5% shall be imposed on the importation of any article classified under chapter 72 or 73 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
(b) The President may increase this tariff rate to up to 15% on specific countries deemed to be engaging in unfair trade practices for up to 150 days.
 (i) The President must obtain congressional authorisation to extend an increase of tariffs under Part B beyond 150 days.

SECTION 3. IMPLEMENTATION

(a) This bill shall take effect on the January 1st 2021.

Object because I don't think the president should on a whim be allowed to declare a 30% tariff, the aim behind my amendment was to have a small permanent tariff that would support Atlasian steel workers in the long term that could be increased in specific cases.
