Peak Atlas to declare Pete the winner with huge numbers of delegates remaining in Des Moines and other urban centers where Bernie appears to be winning...

A lot of the election gurus on here who are professional class and highly educated (gass for example) have a weird aversion to Bernie

Lol and Bernie supporters are much more negative on other candidates. Bernie supporters make up a majority of online outspoken political users but constantly complain as if they are in the extreme miniority

Presumably the counties that are not reported are more likely to have been harder to report correctly and in which mistakes are more likely to have been made, which means that they probably tend to be larger precincts with higher turnout. I would guess that generally means urban precincts, but also could be suburban. Probably not a lot of rural though. Seems like a lot of votes are out in the urban and college town counties, especially Polk (only 54% in) and Black Hawk (only 31% in).

I don't think much momentum will be had from Iowa. There was the whole debacle and Pete Buttigieg didn't really do that well so far, he just gained around double the other candidates in realignment, which most states don't have. This race is wide open.

The importance of "momentum" in the Democratic nomination process is hilariously exaggerated anyway. The demographics of these states are far more important than any supposed "momentum", which is why Biden still has a good chance of winning the nomination.

Atlas literally hates Pete. I only see 2 people calling it for Pete. I see more calling it for Bernie.

I like Pete.

But then, I like all the top Dem candidates.

Buttigieg is really close to Sanders in Polk, Linn, Black Hawk, etc. Hard to see Sanders gaining much in those areas.

Whats the % chance  of contested convention if Pete wins IA , Bernie wins NH and Biden wins SC

If that happens, Biden is the nominee, so fairly negligible.

We won !

Cheers to Grassroots (and a few others) for believing.

Suck it, haters.

Congrats on winning with as much legitimacy as Trump, seeing as Buttigieg came in second in the actual votes.

Hillary won the popular vote against Obama, so was Obama's 2008 win illegitimate

In retrospection, yes. Hillary definitively had better claim for 2008.

Lots of outstanding voters still in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids & Sioux City (25% of all remaining precincts - likely much more in PV).

Precinct map on NYT is now working:

Depends entirely on which precincts within those counties have reported first. Suppose, as seems plausible, that within each county the more rural and suburban precincts reported with fewer problems (because they probably had less people in each caucus, making errors/discrepancies less likely), then it would make sense that Buttigieg would do better in the precincts that already reported, and Sanders better than in the precincts which are outstanding. That may or may not be the case, but on its face it seems plausible.

Buttigieg and Sanders had both claimed victory...and both seem to have been right (unless something changes).

Will the rest of the vote count be announced during today, or will it be postponed to tomorrow or later this week?

Buttigieg already back out declaring victory again. This just seems desperate now.

NYT has scraped the precinct PDF put out and has a map. The results are....patchy and reflect what one would expect if there is technical difficulties. Also, lots of ties because 5 candidates.

There are still 762 SDEs to be assigned, with Buttigieg leading in those by 25.

Buttigieg is really close to Sanders in Polk, Linn, Black Hawk, etc. Hard to see Sanders gaining much in those areas.

Depends on where these outstanding precincts are and their size/how many delegates they awarded.
