Alito is one of us: highly qualified, determined, and intelligent.

'Us'?  That is hilarious, jmfcst.  You're some nobody in Texas - what do you have to do with these people who matter?  And after all the man can't be very intelligent, as he is a religious.  (but perhaps that's just a pose).

Actually, I seem to recall the Dem base being opposed to Meirs as well.

Yeah, but she was the best Bush was going to nominate, so I doubt anyone would filibuster, and she would have easily been comfirmed if not for her own party.

On this board, the Republicans are not a majority, silent or otherwise.

Gloating, such an appealing characteristic.

It sure is more appealing than LOSING!

I wonder what your lord and savior would say about that jmfcst?

So, now you want to talk about Jesus?

No - and it's watching self proclaimed devout believers behave so poorly that causes that.

Yeah, unfortunately, the children of this world are more active than are the children of the light.

No - and it's watching self proclaimed devote believers behave so poorly that causes that.

In fairness, jmfcst's unsportsmanlike conduct is the result of his shabby background more than of his cult.  He is, quite simply, not a gentleman.

Of course they're not gentlemen, the Republicans are interested only in winning. They just got "the worst nightmare of liberal Democrats" on the court.

Well, I wasn't referring to the nominee or the Religious Party's political strategy, I was only referring to jmfcst's gloating on here.

Come on…allow me just a little bit of room so that I can make sport of the Dems for a couple of hours.  This is almost as fun as watching Joe Theismann get his leg broken on national TV.

But, if you insist that I justify my actions, then…:

Ecc 9:16 "Do not be overly righteous, nor be overly wise: Why should you destroy yourself?  Do not be overly wicked, nor be foolish: Why should you die before your time?"

There, now let’s get back to rubbing some more salt in those wounds!

To be honest, this Aliato thing doesn't really bother me that much - I'm sure you're well aware that I wrote off the Bad Place years ago.  I would hate to live there even if John Kerry were president, no doubt.  The place is just lousy.

But, admittedly, it is irksome to see religious such as yourself pleased at anything, when one would so much prefer to see you in the lion's maw.

I wouldn't say capitulating to the crazy right wing is neccessarily a good thing...

No one did that.
I think bragging about how your party responds to its base means that it's a good thing.

Uh, I said no one capitulated to the 'crazy right-wing' by nominating Alito. I'm sorry you hate the Constitution so much.
You never said any such thing, I meant capitulating to the right wing by withdrawing Meirs.  I still don't understand why Republicans didn't trust her.

She was not qualified at all. You don't have to be 'crazy right-wing' to oppose a joke like that.

One, you said average nominee. Two, I thought we were talking about judicial nominees. Three, I know nothing about Michael Brown or his qualifications.

Michael Brown was fired from his previous job of being a lawyer who specializes in horses asses, which clearly makes him highly qualified to lead FEMA.
