So I had this idea earlier today...what if America's electoral college system used the Regions of Atlasia instead of states?
So I've spent the past couple hours on a Microsoft Excel file. In it, spreadsheets containing every single presidential election since 1968 to 2016. Each region's amount of electoral votes was decided by adding up the votes that each state (plus DC in the South's case) to a grand total. In every election, Frémont had the smallest total, and Lincoln had the largest. However, the way the math worked, each presidential candidate would always have to pick up at least 2 regions in order to surpass 270 electoral votes.
