Needless to say both are horrible, but if forced to choose, I would have go with Paisley.

Benedict- simply because as a Catholic, I would probably loose my voting rights under Ian Paisley, even though I disagree with the Pope on many social issues.

Paisley is probably as conservative as the Pope on the same social issues too

I voted for Paisley based on this logic: Paisley hates catholics, the Pope hates Protestants. Both are equally horrid human beings, but since I'm a Protestant, I'll go with the one who doesn't hate me.

Umm, No.

Pope Bendict XVI, obviously. The idea that the two are even comparable is idiotic at best.

Agreed. I most certainly don't consider Paisley or the Pope to fall into that category therefore, nor Pat Robertson or any the other clowns of his ilk.

The Pope. I don't really know too much about Paisley (he's NI Protestant, I'd guess) but Benedict doesn't seem all that bad, as religious leaders go.

I rest my case. This Paisley sounds like a nutter. I may not agree with Benedict XVI on everything, but he seems to be rational and intelligent.

Pope Benedict XVI.  I haven't yet seen anything from him that's completely horrible.  I don't always agree with what he says, but given that he's the leader of the Catholic Church, I think that's kind of expected.

Umm ... when did the Pope say he hates Protestants?  Paisley has made anti-Catholic and anti-Jewish statements on countless occassions.  Add into that that he is overwhelmingly homophobic and that he favors violence and I don't see how any decent person could support him.

He said that Protestants were "gravely deficient" and that Protestant churches are not real churches.
