Tom Steyer is basically a less radical version of Bernie Sanders.
- he fought the corrupt oil and gas industry in California and got them out.
- he fought the tobacco lobby and got them out of California.
- he created NextGen which managed to mobilise young people, get them registered and increased turnout in over 400 congressional seats.
- he has spent fortunes on getting ideas on ballots. Instead of pandering laws through lobbyists you put progressive ideas on the ballot and it ties the hands of corrupt politicians.
- he wants climate change to be dealt with immediately and lobbying power taken from the corporations.
- he wants a restoration to fully funded public schools,
- he wants quality drinking water standards passed through state ballots forcing state government to pass it.

Tom Steyer is basically Bernie Sanders

Why not?

He’s used his money to campaign for progressive causes.
He fought oil and gas, tobacco and got progressives policies on ballots to be voted on and taken away from politicians.

What has Bernie actually done other than talk about it?

If push comes to shove, I bet he would be willing to pursue policies that protect his wealth, regardless of the effects of such policies on others.

Being a Senator is a job tho

Having named yourself after one, I thought you'd know that

Yeah but as an outsider Steyers is a radical centrist and since Sander would be a conservative in any other country that means he's closer to the center than Steyers, so therefore he's a radical extremist compared to Sander's.

I'm well aware that Heller lost

Whether one's display name is from a current or former Senator, they still named themselves after a Senator

I mean the person you quoted might be confused about the fact that being Senator is a job since Dean Heller lost in 2018 Smiley

I don't completely disagree. I haven't thought much of Tom Steyer outside of seeing an occasional TV ad and impressive debate performance, but as a Bernie Sanders supporter and self-described "progressive," I would place Tom Steyer high on my list of preferred nominees, right behind Sanders and alongside Elizabeth Warren and Andrew Yang.

Steyer is not a centrist at all. Being a billionaire does not preclude taking quite left-wing positions, and Steyer has positioned himself to the left of most of the field.

Steyer is a grifter and deserves no support from any self-respecting Democrat.

I'm not Sander's biggest fan, but this is a really inaccurate comparison.
