He acted.

Take the alternative. He did not act.

If Iran attacked and left scores of US military dead, and it came to light that Trump had information about the impending plans and attack schedule, then he would have been lambasted for not acting to protect US citizens and soldiers.

Either way, with 100% certainty, he will get criticized.
