Let's see what the results are. I am very interested in the results in Silves, Portimão and Faro. Yes, I have my roots in the Algarve Wink

Of those 3, I think that Faro may be the only one which could be at play. Silves, IMO, will be a CDU hold and Portimão a PS hold.

This is what I expect, but you can't be sure Wink

In Vila Pouca de Aguiar (Vila Real district), an armed man forced polling workers to close down a polling station as he was threatening people on the street with his gun. According to the media, the man thought that there were conducting voter fraud in that polling station.

The police was called and the man was escorted by the police. The polling station was reopen shortly after.

Of course, but I have a feeling that this election will be a "status-quo" election. I believe that the changes will be minimal. I may be completely wrong, of course, but that's my hunch.

30 minutes until polls close in Continental Portugal and Madeira. At that hour, RTP, SIC and TVI will release their turnout projections.

Polls have closed. Still open in the Azores.

Turnout projections:

RTP1: 50-55%
SIC: 50-55%
TVI: 50-55%

Exactly the same in the 3 networks. Adding the CMTV projection, the average gives us a turnout rate of 52.50%, just slightly below the record low turnout of 2013, 52.60%.

Let's see how it will be in the end of the night.

Exit polls:

Lisbon: Too close to call. Moedas and Medina neck and neck.
Porto: Moreira by a landslide, PS and PSD battle for 2nd place.
Coimbra: PSD gains the city from the PS
Almada: PS hold
Amadora: PS hold.
Figueira da Foz: Santana Lopes gains the city from the PS.

I'm very surprised as well. Great result for the center-right if they take back Lisbon.

Indeed. They seem to have won Coimbra by a landslide and this is important as the mayor of Coimbra is the chair of the National Association of Mayors.

It's going to be a long night.

I am also pretty shocked that the PSD is apparently doing so well. Bad night for Costa incoming?

Sorry, for the delay. Dinner and kitchen stuff. Yeah, so far, things are looking rather good for the PSD. They have lost some places that were expected, but have gained, so far, 2 towns in Évora district.

Lisbon is a huge shock. Huge.

CDU are really doing badly, also. Jerónimo de Sousa is now speaking and he has conceded that the results are not good.

What is the electoral system? Is it like in Spain or there are separate elections for mayors and councils?
