Conventional wisdom says no, but remember that Nixon seemed to be safe from removal right up until late July-early August 1974. With Nixon, it was a Supreme Court ruling forcing him to turn over incriminating material which sealed his fate. Trump is currently fighting multiple court battles to try to keep various things about himself hidden (e.g. his tax returns, testimony from some current and former WH officials, etc.), so if he is ultimately forced to hand over such materials, then I can possibly foresee him exiting in a manner similar to how Nixon exited.

No. Can’t see any more than 3 senators (Collins, Murkowski, Romney) vote to convict.

No probably not.  But one interesting thing to watch is the rage factor.  Whether he admits it or not he is really mad as hell about this stain on his Presidency.  I think he could start acting crazy soon and his poll numbers might start dipping slightly which might put pressure on Senators to vote to hear witnesses, etc.  I mean, he's obviously guilty so this can only get worse if more facts come out.

That could be wise if I were him. That way he doesn't have to deal with impeachment anymore, and if Pence wanted to, there could be a pardon, and that can still give Trump a minor chance of having some form of a political future

No, but I'd say there's a maybe 20-40% chance that we get 50%+1 Senators voting to convict on at least one article, which would definitely be an interesting dynamic to watch play out.

Not a single Republican house member voted for the impeachment so why would one think the cocaine mitch turtle let his fellow GOP senators vote to remove.

Because all of the moderate republicans in swing districts got wiped out in the 2018 election so the vast majority of the house is in safe districts.  That's not the case in the Senate where some have tough reelections.  That said I think they will still fall in line for the same reason democrats in the house in swing districts did... they can't afford to lose their base.  This vote will screw Corey Gardner, Martha McSally, and Susan Collins.  This can only hurt them no matter how they vote.

I had forgotten that Dan Lipinski is still in Congress, but he is and even he voted no.

WTF Gabbard, Golden, and Peterson?

Golden and Peterson I understand due to them being in districts that are in danger of flipping, but Gabbard is just a Binks

The Republicans have what they want: an argument for acquittal that passes the giggle test and gives them an out. They will all vote to acquit.

+100. And, because of that, all impeachment tussle seems absolutely silly to me.

No, but that doesn't mean Democrats shouldn't stand up for what's right.

Elaine Chao, Mcconnell's wife works for Trump, Trump wont be removed. Even if she wasnt, after what Dems did to the GOP, in 1999, refused to call witnesses,  there still wouldnt be a conviction

NO   NO   NO

The fix is already being arranged. 34 Republican Senators will get the hint, even if it is a dead fish.

Lol obviously not. This was obvious the entire time that the impeachment case would get absolutely shredded in the senate. Dems needed way more and should’ve taken their time in the house to make it look less partisan. They really should’ve called witnesses and pushed hard to get at least one Republican vote.

Definitely not. I mean, strange things have happened, but it won't. Nevertheless, he will never shake off the fact he was the third president in history to be impeached.

The chances of Trump resigning and apologizing for everything are higher than the Senate removing him, considering they've openly admitted they're planning on rigging it in his favor.

Not by the Republican Senate

Pelosi could theoretically delay the impeachment trial until after the election. It is inconclusive as to whether Democrats will win the Senate in 2020 - and if the election's close enough for Trump to win the Electoral College, that would make capturing the Senate very difficult for Democrats.

She may decide to delay the trial until summer or fall of 2020 - closer to the election. This could benefit Democrats - it could also embolden Trump's base.

Delaying the Senate trial until after the 2020 election, on the other hand, would keep the cloud of impeachment over Trump, without having received the acquittal he would likely receive from Mitch and Co.
