Patty Wetterling is holding a press conference today to announce that she is dropping out of the Senate race. She is also likely to announce that she now plans on running for Lt. Governor, although it's also possible that she will run for the MN-06 congressional seat. But the rumor is a run for Lt. Governor.

Amy Klobuchar is the likely Senate candidate, and the other DFL'er in the race (Ford Bell) may switch to the MN-03 congressional race.

I'd rather Wetterling ran in Kennedy's district as she is well known there.  She clearly has Gubernatorial ambitions then.  Who is the current Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota?

Great news!  I hope she runs for the House as she can probably pick up the seat.

Who is the current Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota?

Even I don't know. It's a fairly worthless position. They don't even preside over the Senate. All I know is it's a woman and former State Senator.

How does Minnesota work? Do the Governor and Lt. Governor candidates run as a ticket together?

I read that Hatch wants Wetterling as his Lt. Governor.

I can't understand why Hatch chose to run for Governor rather than Senator but as Klobuchar is apparently doing well I don't mind now.

My originial question, to rephrase, was meant to be is the Lieutenant Governor a Republican?  However they must be if what someone just said about them running on the same ticket as the Governor is correct.

In addition, has there been any polling on a Hatch vs. Pawlenty match-up?  I think Hatch sees Wetterling's background as beneficial to him; he's probably quite shrewdly right.

Looking around on DC Political Report it looks they do and the Lt. Gov. is a Republican.

Yes, they run on the same ticket. The Lt. Gov. is a Republican.

I haven't seen any direct matchup polls between Hatch and Pawlenty, but I did see one of favorability ratings, although this one was done differently than most such polls, rather than simply polling people on whether they had a favorable or unfavorable opinion of certain people, they asked them to rate them between 0 and 100. The score was the average. I can't remembe the exact numbers, but Hatch was 2 above Pawlenty.

And interestingly and in very good news for us, Klobuchar was the most favorable person of all polled. Mark Kennedy was the second least favorable one, only slightly above the one at the bottom: Bush

Haha, agreed.  She'd be a good spouse for Andy Warren.

She's met with Hatch about being his Lt. Governor candidate.  If it happened, that would make Hatch/Wetterling teh total integrity ticket, which could be useful if Pawlenty is forced to (officially) renege on his 'no new taxes' pledge.
