Matt Hancock is the first minister to resign in order to spend less time with his family. Wink

No doubt most of you will by now be familiar with the news about Michael Gove and his other half.

Can we expect a England beats Germany boost for Boris?
I wonder if Wilson’s government became more popular in polls after 66

England crashing out of the World Cup was supposedly a factor in Labour losing in 1970.

So, all Starmer has to do to beat Boris is force a snap election, and then kidnap Gareth Southgate?

Is keir starmer trying to copy Biden's soft protectionism with his Buy British plan ?. He's also using a lot of law and order rethoric.

UK is different from the US in that Labour presently supports increasing but also reforming policing. See Theresa May cutting the number of police officers and the reaction from the opposition.

I think it's important to make a distinction here - Lammy is talking about the government being soft on crimes like rape - very much its own issue and a bit different to other 'law and order rhetoric' on issues like drugs and the methods of policing. Labour being tough on crime is not a new thing but as many of you will agree the police needs reforming. It also helps to trumpet the policies a bit more as the Tories are still (wrongfully) seen as the party of Law and Order.

Because of 'EU' Starmer going up against 'patriotic' (blech) Johnson and the way the left and right are characterised these days, 'make, sell and buy British' is seen as something out of character for him or Labour. Far from it, if you remember things like Gordon Brown's 'British Jobs for British Workers' and some of Wilson's policies. It's simply something that is seen by some to be incompatible with his other previous stances, but it's in line with Labour tradition. Maybe he is trying to copy Biden to a degree but nobody is going to hold that against him.

It's worth noting Corbyn also espoused plans along these lines back in 2018. Naturally, he was excoriated for it by the same people praising Starmer for it now.

And of course vice versa, as is so often the case in the Forever Factional War.

Miliband made similar noises too, come to think of it.

Okay, I don't follow soccer (the most boring sport in the world) so what does it refer to?

I'm sure you know Bugger is just an exclamation of annoyance, so he's annoyed at England reaching the finals of the European Championship, probably because he is Scottish. I don't mean to sound patronising, apologies if I did.

Sorry to divert attention away from our controversial footie win.

It's niw confirmed that English Votes for English Laws (EVEL) is being scrapped.  Good riddance in my opinion.

Next stop federalism?  Hey I can dream.

There is a very odd trend going on of people reading a bit too much into local council by-elections… This seems to be happening on all sides as well.
