I can’t remember if this is correct, but didn’t DesJarlais tell people he didn’t want TN-04 to take in part of Davidson?

No surprise, but the 8-1 plan appears to be a go

Disappointing, but not surprising.

I still think they're asking for trouble down the road by doing this. Let's see what happens.
It's easy to do a 4-way split, and have the most Democrat district in the area be R+18 or more. That probably wouldn't be competitive for some time. All that matters is that it holds for the next decade.

So would you guys fall out of your chairs if Nashville was somehow kept intact? I probably wouldn't, since today's articles stated that even the chair of the local Republican Party in Nashville didn't think that would happen (he thought that the district would at most cede Dickson County to other districts).
The ideal TN-05 sheds Dickson and Cheatham, which go into TN-07. My version of it pulls in the MinMaj town of La Vergne from Rutherford County and also pulls in the other half of Goodlettsville from Sumner.

Any chance of a 4-way split being successfully challenged in court or is Tennessee gonna get away with this horsesh**t?

Any potential for a successful lawsuit there?

The most interesting part of the story is that he said "2 or 3" districts.  Most 8-1 maps I've seen used 4 districts for Nashville.  That almost makes me wonder if they're trying some sort of 7-1-1map, if they are not buying 2016-20 trends continuing,, or if Sexton just mispoke.
Splitting Nashville into 2 districts practically guarantees one of those will be a DEM seat. I think 3 districts is the minimum if they want all three to be Republican leaning, and even still one of those will be risky down the line. I'll be surprised if they don't split it into four districts.

Taking Memphis into Tipton County? Why the hell would they do that?

TN-05 is only Trump +8

I was calculating around R+10.7. Regardless, it's a seat that will seem competitive in a good year, but won't actually be.

Yeah, putting Tipton in there made no sense. Glad at least one thing about this awful map was improved.

So I was wrong, they chose to split Tipton instead of remove it entirely. Yikes.

TN House passes the congressional map 70-26 (previously passed the senate 26-5) and now goes to Gov. Lee for signing. I feel bad for anyone living there. Good luck.

Is there a DRA map or shapefiles anywhere for TN?

Seriously is there no DRA link or shapefile for the passed congressional map? I tried recreating the map based on the text of the bill itself but I'm off by a few people in 5/6 and 8/9.

Update, I was able to get a hold of the shapefiles for the new map. I have imported them into DRA, so you can now find an interactive version of the congressional lines here:
