Probably doesn't need to be mentioned, but whoever Biden picks as his running mate is going to get a lot of attention and could be a major figure in the 2024 Democratic Primary.

If President Biden doesn't run for reelection, I think the 2024 Democratic primary won't be that competitive. Madame Vice President (most likely Kamala) will almost certainly have the nomination in her bag.

He'd be decent president, but it will never happen. The Republican won't nominate this guy. He's far too moderate and too sane.

Has anyone noticed that Joe Biden in his recent economic recovery speech twice said that he would create that many jobs "in my first four years alone" and "just in my first term"? I think this may indicate he hasn't settled on being a one-termer already. So if his health permits it, I could see him running for reelection.

Larry Hogan appeared on Morning Joe today, talking about his book. He's actually a likeable and pragmatic leader, but I don't see him as Republican nominee. He's much too moderate and reasonable.

Potentially relevant re: Warren's future presidential intentions:

Unclear if this was just spin to help her land the job, or alternatively if this was specific to a scenario in which Biden wins this year.  But if serious, it sounds like, even if Trump wins this time and there's an open Dem. contest again in 2024, Warren might not run.

Biden assured Obama he would not run if they won in 2008. I suspect she was just talking up an asset; the "Warren Democrats" schtick has convinced me she's probably still entertaining a 2024 or even a 2028 bid.

I heard this as well, though I'm not sure what the point was? I'd actually like my vice president to run after two terms to continue the work. Joe Biden obviously backed out in 2016 for other reasons, but if he ran instead of Hillary, he would have beaten Trump in all likelyhood.

In his first joint interview with Kamala Harris, Joe Biden said he definitely does not rule out running for reelection. Of course it would be stupid to committ to one term already, but there are more instances like when he said "in my first term alone" in earlier speeches, that he may evaluate things in mid 2023 and if he feels he's still fit enough, there is more business to do and polls suggest he'd be Democrat's best bet, he could absolutely run again. But it's crazy to think about the fact he'll be 85 in his final full year as president.

Looks like Hawley's not running? We'll see how long this lasts, but I could see this happening due to him trying to be re-elected as senator of Missouri.
Obama, Warren, and Booker also said they would not run for president in 2006, 2018, and 2018 respectively.

Hillary said it as late as 2014.

Trump exploring a black or female running mate:

Watch him pick Mia Love or Will Hurd lol.

In all seriousness, he'd probably go with Kristi Noem or Tim Scott. Maybe Marsha Blackburn.

David Clarke or Kanye West?

If I'm Trump, I announce tomorrow morning.

Kabul will go down as a 2nd Benghazi, politically-speaking. Difference is, Trump wasn't running against Hillary or Obama, and that does NOT help Biden.

I think people overestimate the impact of Afghanistan. It won't be much an issue in a couple of weeks, let alone in November 2024.

It is curious that Trump's former top advisor thinks he doesn't want a rematch against President Biden.  Perhaps because it is harder to run against Biden when he is the incumbent:

Trump Will 'Ultimately' Run in 2024 but Not Against Biden, Former Adviser Predicts

Donny is afraid of Uncle Joe. He beat him once, as the challenger already. Even Trump knows that.

Newsweek quotes an anonymous adviser to Stacey Abrams:

https://www.newsweek.com/2021/11/19/can-stacey-abrams-save-democratsagain-1647554.html

Quote
"Stacey has a plan, and it's only a surprise to people who haven't paid attention," says an adviser who asked not to be identified to speak freely about her thinking. "She plans to become the first Black woman governor in the United States next year. And then run for president in 2024 if Biden does not, or in 2028 if he does."

For the record, Seth Bringman, spokesman for Abrams, says, "She has neither made nor announced such plans."

She should win the governorship first.

Impressive, though dang that just makes him look old. Previously I always thought he was Sean Spicer's age.

Yeah, he definitely looks much older. But regardless of what you think about him politically, you got to give him credit for losing much weight.

Fingers crossed.
??

The implication is that Trump will run as an attempt to escape punishment for his crimes. Either he hopes that his incoherent screams of "political persecution" will somehow bear fruit, or that if he does manage to again gain the ability to abuse the office of the President, he will either be protected by it, or abuse it further in order to quash investigations against him or punish those conducting them. It's a shallow, obviously and reprehensible motive, but Republicans are rather shallow, obvious and reprehensible themselves, so that won't harm his chances any.

Honestly, if attorneys and authorities can't get him convicted before 2024, they never will. It was never likely that he actually gets punished for his severe wrongdoings.

NPR saying he's gonna do it.

Just announce it already man, put us out of our misery

Although I'm not actually convinced he's going to do it, it would definitely increase the chances Biden runs again. At least unless his health deteriorates.

He'll probably run and go nowhere. Either drops out in 2023 already, or after finishing with 1% of the vote in Iowa.

Hillary Clinton on 2024:

https://www.foxnews.com/media/cbs-host-calls-out-hillary-clinton-cant-imagine-2024-run-thats-not-no

Quote
During an appearance on "CBS Mornings," the former presidential candidate was asked by co-host Gayle King if there was "any scenario" in which she thought about jumping back into the "day to day" of politics.

"No… but I miss it. I miss it," Clinton replied, before King interjected.

"There’s no scenario in 2024 that you’d even remotely consider?" she asked.

The 2016 Democratic nominee said that she couldn’t "imagine it. I really can't."

"That’s not a no," King said.

The obsession with Hillary is very unhealthy. When does that ever stop?

The Democratic Party has an incumbent president who repeatedly stated his intention to run for reelection. It's a fantasy debate.

Trump is expected to announce before the midterms, possibly as early as September.

Quote
Donald Trump is expected to announce a 2024 presidential run ahead of November’s midterm elections, and in spite of advice from his closest aides, two confidents claim.

Two advisers told The Washington Post he is now allegedly eyeing September to make an announcement at the earliest, the paper reported on Thursday.

One aide described the chances of an announcement as being at “70-30 he announces before the midterms”, while others reportedly said September could be the soonest date.

Just as July 4th, right? Very possible this is just a grift to milk his supporters as cash cow to prepare for upcoming legal battles. And he may attempt to scare off DeSantis.

I will abandon Trump in a second if Tucker runs.
Tucker has said he won't run in 2024

Hillary also said she's not going to run in 2013/14, just as Warren said in 2018.

Anyway, I'd even take DeathSantis any day of the week over this lunatic.

Warren about 2024 on MSNBC, says that she supports Biden and runs for reelection to the senate.
