It's been awhile since we had a president with serious foreign policy chops, and that wasn't why HW got elected. I don't like Gaetz, but he's a bad candidate because he can't expand his appeal.

good point, can't believe he slipped my mind. I'd argue the point still stands, as he wasn't elected because of his foreign policy experience, but you're right that he's easily the most experienced we've had since HW.

I mean, if that's the point you're going for, then it doesn't really apply to Poppy either, since he wasn't elected due to his foreign policy experience so much as the fact that he was seen as a Reagan 3rd term. You'd have to go back to Nixon before you arrive at a President who was arguably (& even then, only arguably) elected because of their foreign policy experience, be it real or perceived.

Advisers to former President Donald Trump say he still has not expressed remorse for the siege at the US Capitol, which could end up being important for Senate jurors to consider after House impeachment managers on Wednesday released new video of the violent mob's assault on January 6.

One of the new clips show then-Vice President Mike Pence and his family being hustled away by Secret Service as the siege was under way. That affirms what Pence aides told CNN in the days following the deadly insurrection. Some of those aides were outraged with Trump and believed he had put his own vice president in danger.

Pence, who plans to keep laying low during the impeachment trial, has not quite patched up his relationship with Trump after what happened, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The source said Pence and Trump "discussed everything" that happened on January 6. But at the time, the source said, both men were more focused on just getting to January 20 -- Inauguration Day.

Haley's well aware that being a woman and a minority is already disqualifying in a Republican primary and probably keeps her off of the ticket for most potential nominees. She isn't running.

Any chance Haley had of winning in 2024 are out the window. I'm not sure why she would even choose to repudiate Trump. Denouncing him in such harsh terms is career suicide. Either she plans on retiring from politics and is trying to save her image in the eyes of Democrats or she is extremely out of touch with Republican voters and thinks this is a winning strategy.

I’m calling it now that Biden will win re-election, for one simple reason: The Lichtman Keys will be strongly in his favor if he runs, and he’s privately said that he’s planning to run again. He understands how risky it would be to retire after one term due to the fear of Trumpism returning. If he is in good health, he will run and he will win.

Source? I'm as big a believer in Biden as anybody, but even I hadn't heard &/or seen anything about this.
