Because Macarthur is generally possessed of a psychotic hatred of Sanders and would likely vpte for Trump if he were nominated?

Yes, he dislikes Bernie, certainly more than I do (would still support as the nominee). However, some Berniebros are even more hostile towards Joe Biden is his supporters. I mean, some of them even are mad at Liz Warren, slam her as a fraud and sellout. Maybe we can all just agree to disagree on certain policies, argue on issues and call out actions like the one in the story. From any campaign. I would be calling this out if it was a Biden supporter as well and don't think Bernie himself likes this kind of behavior.

Toxic, big time. I mean, a decent number of these guys even think Liz is a sellout and they have shown insane hatred toward mainsteam Democrats who are center-left instead of far-left.

My biggest reservations with Bernie and his campaign is actually not Bernie himself, it's a very loud group among his supporters and certain figures he surrounds himself with.
