Leaked audio implicates US Senators in Bolivian Coup

The news of these leaked audio files has not been picked up by mainstream Western news sources, however they are available for anyone to hear online. In the audio recordings, opposition leaders discuss their plans for a coup that would be orchestrated from the US embassy prior to the elections and cite US Senators Ted Cruz, Bob Menendez, and Marco Rubio as having direct contact with the opposition leaders.

The plan was to allege electoral fraud if Morales won on October 20 and establish a civil-military transition government by burning structures of the governing party, organize a general strike, and attack the Cuban embassy. Three US Senators were actively involved in these plans, which included targeting the homes of members of the governing party to instill fear via threats to their families safety. Support from the Evangelical Christian Church and the Brazilian government of Bolsonaro is also mentioned. The opposition also held private meetings with members of civic groups to install rapid voting equipment for the next presidential election to manipulate public opinion and declare fraud. References were made to the Jubilee Foundation, the European Union, the US Embassy, and the Evangelical Church.

The outcome has been to install a non-Indigenous transition "president" against the results of the election and wishes of the country's legislature. The interim "president" has also said and done some other divisive things...

Isn't it lovely that we have US Senators actively involved in overthrowing a democratically elected government and installing a bigot, which is causing destabilization, division, and a return to institutionalized bigotry against the indigenous population?

In this era of deepfakes and AI, digital records are only going to get more and more untrustworthy. The establishment of a pattern of action, and the testimony of many credible witnesses - like we're seeing with in the investigation of Donald Trump (R-Moscow) - are only going to become more essential.

"Opposition to indigenous religion" would be perfectly normal and par for the course coming from church leaders or from missionaries, but when it's used politically, it needs to be read through the lens of the history of racial and religious politics in the place where it's being brought up. Through that lens, seeing right-wing Bolivian politicians invoke it is terrifying.
