Plunged into anarchy with a tenuous government just like Iraq is now.

Americans don't want Canadians and Canadians don't want Americans; you can give that one up right now. Tongue

I'd love to trade in my American citizenship for Canadian!

As for the US in 100 years - theocracy.   In other words it won't change much.

Part of a World Government.  As sovereignty will be seen on a gradient scale.  From world level to state level to provincial level to municipal level to personal level.  The nation state will still hold a plurality of sovereignty.

That said the United State of America will probably be larger than it is now yet I expect not all of what is now the United States of America will still claim membership.  I am unsure whether our current second republic will still exist.

Much the same constitutionally.  We have had a remarkably stable government -more or less- since the end of the Civil War, and I do not expect that to change.

Moreover, I am not anticipating any significant changes to the basic structure of this government as it was originally formulated by the Founding Fathers, and -given the attitude toward the United Nations- nor do I expect us to compromise our sovereignty and become a part of any larger world government.

number 6 or Other. If we dont join up with Canada, then we will probably be a weak giant because of multiple revolutions between now and then.

Much the same.  Almost identical.  More liberal socially however.

Who knows? Hopefully we'll be on other planets by then, so small government types like the founding fathers can start another free country, now that this one has been ruined.

An atomic armageddon (sp?) will get us by then.  The entire world will be but a pile of debris with but a few hundred people attempting to survive.

Seriously, I do not know, and never will know.

Who in 1806 thought the United States would be the most powerful nation on Earth and we would even be talking about homosexuals?

The comparable period there would actually be 1906.

Same works there as well. In 1906 no one would even say the word "homosexual" or "contraception", so it is imposible to see what we shall be like in 100 or 200 years.

1, 4, and 6.

Much of what is American will remain.  There could be a loose confederated world government, but probably not a federalized one.  We will not annex Canada (nor vice versa), but will probably be in an even closer partnership.

I realize I'm way off my game tonight, but it seems to me that the 2nd and 3rd options are merely subsets of the first.  Anyway, I don't think up-and-coming China will have forced us from our KOTH position by then, though it will almost certainly have a higher aggregate GDP than the US within the next 20 years.  Barring any sudden change in the educational system (which, admittedly, is a huge assumption) I can't imagine a Russia1990 or France1789 type schism occurring here, so I have voted for the first option.

Perhaps cryogenics or preservation devices will evolve to the point where we might actually be able to live that long.

Acctually, I expect that thanks to drugs and treatments, people born in 2020 will have an average life expectancy of about 100 years or more... 80 of which will be spent in relatively good health.

Who in 1806 thought the United States would be the most powerful nation on Earth and we would even be talking about homosexuals?

Thomas Jefferson once said that "sodomites" should be castrated. So they did talk about gays back then, just not with the same words we use today.

I voted a Christian Fundamentalist Theocracy, because this country and Iran are the only places in the World becoming more conservative. 100 years from now the evil Sunbelt will have even more power and population, and we all know how that region is inclined politically and religiously.

I'm sure educated people like scientists would have used those terms, PBrunsel.

In 2050 the US will be declared the winner of our game of civilization on a points victory.  We will then have a massive, massive war to wipe the slate clean and start over.
