Good idea, bad idea or depends, if you support, how would you support it, how would you spend it?

Do you think a national economic development initiative could help alleviate the housing crisis by spurring developing in areas with affordable housing, leading to more jobs and opportunities and fixing a "mismatch" in America (places with jobs but expensive versus places with affordable housing but not too many jobs)?

Massive economic subsidies for development in over-inflated rental markets will just lead to additional spillover growth and further upward pressure on prices.

If the feds promise $1bn for new development in San Francisco, which way do you expect rents in the city to go?
