'A proposed LGBTQ conversion therapy ban in Utah is in danger of being derailed after the Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter-day Saints came out Tuesday night in opposition, just months after it said it wouldn’t stand in the way of a similar measure under consideration.

The church said the regulatory rule prohibiting Utah psychologists from engaging in LBGTQ conversion therapy with minors would fail to safeguard “religious beliefs” and doesn’t account for “important realities of gender identity in the development of children”.'

This is a moral outrage on the part of the LDS hierarchy, and I'm confident that whatever Snowguy is attempting to say includes an observation to that effect.

I first discovered this news this morning. Even though I am not LGBTQ+ myself, this is a disgusting, immoral act.

Kids can't choose political leaders or even whether they want to go to school or not but you think that they can choose to not except the gender they where born with? Also the transgender people have the highest rate of suicide of any group including those suffering from depression yet you want psychologists to be banned from being able to advise against this lifestyle in children? At this point I just think you all hate kids.

I have no problem with banning gay conversion therapy for minors, but any form of hormonal or surgical sex transition procedures should also be banned for minors.

Surgical sex transition in relation to the penis/vagina is not performed on minors. Puberty blockers are used for a variety of non-trans health issues and are used to allow trans teens 'the time' to decide for themselves without their body conforming to their adult born sex. (Though not all trans transition) Trans people can know they are trans at a young age. LGB people know who they are. As do cis straights.
