Nah, he'll be 68 in the next presidential term. I love Merrick Garland but that's a waste of a Supreme Court nomination.

At this point it's less about age and whatnot and more about justice. Justice.

Also he's cool.

SCOTUS is too infested with bicoastal Ivy Leaguers, its time to give Real America a voice on the nation's highest court.  My preferred picks would be:

1.  Keith Blackwell (44), Georgia (J.D. from UGA)
2.  Bill Pryor (57), Alabama (J.D. from Tulane)
3.  Raymond Kethledge (52), Michigan (J.D. from UMich),

if working with a Democratic Senate to replace a solidly liberal justice, I'd throw them a bone and offer-up:

1.  Leah Ward Sears (64), Georgia (J.D. from Emory)

Sri Srinivasan, because he is committed to neutrality and objectivity in making judicial decisions.

I would probably only consider federal appellate judges and state supreme court judges who are under the age of 60, have shown themselves to be fairly liberal, and wouldn't be especially polarizing. So:

Sri Srinivasan, Paul Watford, Jacqueline Nguyen, Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar, Leondra Kruger

Amy Coney Barrett

That's a pretty short list.

That's a pretty short list.
I see the Swamp Nazi-Boomer alliance is continuing to hold strong in the Sunshine state.

Notice the above post is literally nothing but an insult ... it contains no analysis, no insight, no points. Literally just "muh u r Hitler!"

Mods pls delete.

Any particular reason why she stands out to you? I think she has an interesting perspective on the law and wouldn't mind having her on the Court if it weren't for the 5-or-6-justice ideologized and partisanized bloc she'd be part of, but why's she head and shoulders above other right-leaning judges in your book?

I'm not asking as a criticism; in fact, she'd probably be near the top of my list too if I were working with a conservative Senate to replace a conservative predecessor (say, if Thomas were to retire young-ish for whatever reason). Other than that my list would be about the same as the less-overtly-ideological figures on brucejoel's--either that or I'd bypass people who are currently public figures entirely and start just raiding the memberships of religious-left legal services groups like CLINIC.
