Perhaps one of the best examples of being neither.

He certainly was a horrible President and set the country back.

However, at the same time, I couldn't call him a horrible person.  He was incompetent at his Presidency (not that his term was going to end up being fantastic no matter who won it) but as a man, he seems like a caring person.

Technically his religion makes him a Horrible Person, but I voted Freedom Fighter because he was largely on the right side politically.  An acceptable centrist.

Generally positive, not spectacular. However, I do think he is unappreciated in popular political mythology.

I think Alcon is right on the account that he's really neither.

Carter is neither a freedom fighter nor a horrible person.  He's simply an idiot who means well on some well but is completely incompetent.  He's also an arrogant and ignorant old scold.  But he generally means well.  He's a good example of how the road to hell can be paved with good intentions.

What does 'competence' have to do with the presidency, exactly?

Horrible Fighter.  On a personal level, Carter is a nice and moral individual.  He was arguably the most incompetent president since Harding, if not worse.  Through his incompetence, he seriously damaged the country and the world.

He was a horrible person while President and some of hist recent efforts, such as the election observing in Venezuela, have been horrible as well but his commitment to helping others and to lending his part to major charities is the mark of a freedom fighter.

However his actions as President outweigh all his subsequent actions so Horrible Person.

He's gotten progressively worse since his campaign of 1976 (when I would have most certainly supported him) to the point now where he's just a rambling, anti-American idiot.

I really don't know where to put him honestly.

Freedom Fighter. Not a very good President but no worse than the current incumbent. He meant well. When things went wrong, he felt it

It's clear he's a horrible person, as any anti-American idiot, as you accurately describe him, would be.

Sure.  It's just an early example of outsourcing.  It's not as if we've been denied its use have we?  The only other equitable alternative would have been to have offered Panama the opportunity to become the 51st state, but somehow I doubt that the either they or we would have been ready for that then.

I would argue, possibly the worst president elected in the last half of the 20th Century (and that's saying a lot).  On a personal level, probably a marginal nice guy.

In my case, I hope being anti-Bush is not synonymous with being anti-American
