opinion of fake throwing a ball for a dog when you're playing ball with your dog

option 5 for me.  I play "kicks" (the word makes my dog go crazy with excitement) with my dog and he likes to get too close for me to kick it past him, so I'll sometimes stand on the other side of the ball so he thinks I'm going to kick it the other way, but that's not really the same thing.

Freedom thing. Tricking beings dumber than I am (dogs, babies, business majors) into believing they are going to get something they really want (their ball, their spoonful of mush, a job that pays more than $10 an hour) is my most favorite serotonin producer.

It's important for the dog to watch the ball. I think it makes the dog smarter because they have to learn that humans lie.
