I think this would be 20-09. I have Ontario's election bill as being 20-08.

Atlasia diverged from the RL USA in 2015 with the reset (or arguably 2004); so yeah

Well, I'm pretty sure people who existed in real life USA even today are still presumed to exist in Atlasia. For example when Fhtagn left office as president she pardoned some people who were convicted post reset.

This bill would authorize the Mint to cast thousands of commemorative coins honoring some neglected figures in the Civil Rights movement. I'm open to adding more historical figures to this minting, including people like W.E.B Dubois, Bayard Rustin, and Gloria Richardson.

I present the following amendment

Quote
CIVIL RIGHTS COMMEMORATIVE COIN ACT

SECTION I: NAME
a. This law shall be known as the Civil Rights Commemorative Coin Act

SECTION II: CIVIL RIGHTS COMMEMORATIVE COIN
a. The mint shall purchase 500,000 troy ounces of silver bullion and commission the minting of 500,000 legal tender, silver, 1 troy oz commemorative one dollar coins, to be sold to the public at $30 per coin.

b Each coin shall include on the obverse, "Atlasia 2020" and “One Dollar” as well as the name and a sculpting to be approved by the President, of Malcolm X. (placeholder)

c. Each coin shall include on the reverse, " Atlasia 2020" and “One Dollar” as well as the name and a sculpting to be approved by the President, of Rosa Parks.

d. All proceeds from the sale of these coins shall be deposited in the General Treasury.

e. This act shall take effect immediately with the expectation that the coin will be available for sale in 2020.

I'm probably taking a very simplistic view of US history, but wasn't Malcolm X the "bad guy" to Martin Luther King being the "good guy"? I would not be opposed to a second civil rights figure (in fact I would strongly support it), but I don't know of any one so I will leave that up to the rest of the chamber.

Malcolm X was a complex man, to be sure. But he ultimately did more good than harm for the cause of civil rights in the country. He disassociated from the Nation of Islam in 1964.

Is there any further debate here? How does the Senate wish to proceed?

Yall have to find a new headliner if brother X was removed before you vote since (placeholder) was all that passed.

I am biased since I live less than an hr from his birthplace,  but however about Booker T. Washington? He would have been my other (nonobvious) choice if I knew Malcolm would get stripped out.
