My hatred for Auchincloss may have been a bit overblown. Yes, he is a former Republican, but he has voted in a  fairly standard way for a Democrat so far. I'm sure his district could afford to have a more progressive representative, but for now it's fine.

My mentality and outlook has been getting worse and worse over the past few weeks, hampered by a crushing dating experience and just general long-term malaise. I'm putting a lot of negative vibes out into the universe at the moment.

Oh, I know what it feels like to have a crushing dating/love experience and a feeling of malaise... I am really sorry. I hope you have, or find, something that keeps you focused and helps you discharge 'safely' the negative vibes.

Eh... maybe not just that for Auchincloss (sorry).

Thank you sir. I bought a guitar, hope that provides a distraction to last the cold months.

Confession: I've always been jealous of Pericles' user name because it's the name of the space-faring time-traveling research primate from the movie Planet of the Apes (2001), my all-time favorite movie chimp.

I literally had zero idea that the vote in Trump's impeachment trial was happening today, until I saw a headline that he was acquitted.  I thought it was a ways away and had been paying no attention to the trial at all.

I still don't understand what the cut-off between Millennial and Zoomer is. All I know is that I'm definitely not the latter.

Pew defines it for US Americans as those born in 1997 and afterwards based on which birth years remembered 9/11 according to their surveys.

Now that I remembered this thread I have a confession to make.

I have never, ever, bought any physical product online. Never used Amazon, Ebay, Aliexpress or any such similar services to buy something; and I actually have no idea how they work.

I feel like a 60 year old boomer when confessing this tbh Tongue

I've come to realize I probably have narcissistic personality disorder, just like my mom clearly does. It's not my only issue, obviously, but it may be my least attractive quality. Idk how to fix it though.

It still blows my mind there are people alive who don’t vividly remember 9/11, let alone weren’t even alive.  Great reminder that I’m getting old!

I have basically perfect sight from my right eye but I have lost around 2.50 dioptres from my left eye, which means I (am supposed to) wear a contact lens from one eye only. The funny thing is that my two-eyes vision is just as perfect as my right-eye vision, and the only action where I perceive some sort of an impairment without my lens is shaving the left side of my face.

From 2008 (when I learned to form some basic sentences in English) on I legitimately believed that a certain spikey animal is called "hedgedog" and not "hedgehog". Nobody ever corrected me until last year, when my view of the world inevitably collapsed.

I'm a Cluster B personality myself. I wonder if it's a trend?

It would probably explain both of our posting styles. Such people tend to be dismissive of others' viewpoints and resistant to changing their own.

I check my posting history for recommendations way too often. Ditto with my Reddit karma and whoever reacts to my comments on Discord.

For the record I recommended your post because I relate, not because I wanted to feed your addiction.

I get the sense that everybody does this. If you check “Who’s Online,” you’ll see that people are constantly viewing their own profiles. Like, is there a reason to view your profile other than obsessively checking your posts for recommendations? I don’t think so.

As modadmin I feel like it’s not something I really should be concerned with. I’m just too obsessed with certain things.

Well, I certainly like to take stock of who recommends my posts.

Seven years ago, I set my now-wife's ex-boyfriend's car on fire.

Never since then have I indulged my flamer tendencies.

No. No. He got the message and moved to Cleveland to live with his mother.

When I'm on more irregularly, I'll check my profile to find a thread I posted in last week and am still interested in.  Lots easier than scrolling thru the boards.
