Literally no one will care about the Rogan controversy outside of twitter, where everyone arguing over it is 100% locked in with a particular candidate anyway.

That's not true, she called gang members super predators and they really were. If you knew anything about how things really were you'd know that gang members would completely take over housing projects and turn them into battlegrounds where law abiding residents were scared to go outside.

Literal ape noises.

What are you even talking about? Joe Rogan is the one calling people apes, not me.

How many times have you complained about people trying to smear Sanders supporters as racists?  And now you're implying - without any evidence to support your claim - that DrScholl wants go around calling African-Americans the n-word because he's questioning the folks Sanders chooses to pal around with (in this case, Joe Rogan, who once called an African-American neighborhood the "planet of the apes")?  Seriously?  All due respect, but that's pretty hypocritical.

And? Nobody cares about the basic sh-t Bernie supporters have spent the past 12 months raking the other candidates over the coals about but when he does something like embrace a known racist and homophobe y'all want to act like it doesn't matter. But let's blow up the internet because of an out of context Joe Biden quote from thirty years ago and because Hillary (accurately) said Bernie has accomplished nothing of note in his time of Congress. Sawx is not a racist.  He made a baseless and pretty gross personal attack, but you're not being any better in the quoted post.

I'm not the one who blatantly exploits racism and sexism for his own political gain. And I'm not talking some Warren-esque debate on whether whatever was said in her meeting with Bernie is sexist. I mean the time a few months ago where you literally fabricated a story to make me look like a racist because you couldn't defend your candidate of choice on his own merits. (Check his posting history if you don't believe me - I have receipts!)

Out of all the Democratic establishment hacks here, you may make the most deplorable statements, and that says a lot considering one of them attacked me for telling a story about my abuse. I've got a lot to say about that person, but I'm fairly confident they wouldn't exploit actual incidents of actual, serious issues to defend their political beliefs. Same with most of the anti-Bernie people on here.

You, on the other hand, don't give a f*** about marginalized people's agency. You only care about their obedience to your cause. Once they disagree with you, your allyship ends there.

Very well then. Had I not known you were black, I wouldn't have made the accusation. I apologize for accusing you of being a racist.

Everything's irrelevant now. I rushed to judgment without realizing the full facts. Even if I took exception to the superpredator portion of the conversation, knowing he was black completely changes it.

I've been fairly consistent about paternalism. I'm not going to sit here and call RFKFan a racist for using the term Bernie Bro. I still believe it otherizes women, which he has no right to do, but as a black man, it's not racist. It's him making a statement on what he feels is in black Americans' best interests. As a white guy, I don't have the right to dispute that.

The same principle applies for DrScholl. Knowing what I know now, to dispute what he said would be as paternalistic as a white man saying "Bernie Bro".

(There's also the fact that JerryAR has attempted to blatantly smear me as a racist in the past, but I've addressed that in my last post)

I'm not going to go in on Rogan and the perceived controversies surrounding him, but I will agree that it is kind of odd for Sanders to be touting Rogan's endorsement as if he is some kind of hero. He's an entertainer, nothing more, nothing less.

An entertainer with a lot of crossover appeal, which pretty useful when your opposition is trying to stamp you in as communist or "out-of-touch".

Trump team offering some rhetorical support to Sanders:

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2020-01-25/trump-defends-sanders-stoking-democratic-divisions

Quote
Trump has sent multiple tweets over the past week suggesting Democrats were “rigging the election” against Sanders because he was being pulled off the campaign trail to serve as a juror in the Senate impeachment trial during the final weeks before the Iowa caucus. Trump never mentioned that three other senators — including Warren of Massachusetts, Sanders’ chief progressive rival — were also marooned in Washington for the trial.

On Thursday, senior Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway wrote in the Washington Post that if Democrats were serious about nominating the most electable candidate, they would side with Sanders. He’s the candidate, Conway wrote, “who actually won primary contests and proved he can play David to Goliath in key places four short years ago.”

Why?:

Quote
Indeed, more moderate Democrats fear that Sanders — a self-described democratic socialist — would struggle to pull together a robust coalition in the general election. But they also worry his supporters might not vote in large enough numbers for any other nominee if Sanders fails in his second quest for the party’s nomination.

Both scenarios would benefit Trump. The president is closely monitoring the Democratic race, and has taken note of Sanders’ strong fundraising and polling, according to Republicans who have spoken with him about the election. But if Sanders stumbles in the coming weeks, Trump is also said to see an opportunity to suppress some of the senator’s most ardent supporters, or even win over some of their votes.

Crossposting some analysis I have done from AAD: I managed to scrape some event data from the Sanders and Warren websites, and managed to get a more complete list of Bernie Journeys and similar Warren campaign carpool events. There are 195 that I managed to find, 89 buses to Iowa and 78 to New Hampshire, with 18 and 10 scheduled for South Carolina and Nevada. This is much, much higher than I expected, and now it looks to me like Sanders is surging thousands of volunteers into the early states. Some of these are "caravans" which implies multiple vehicles if not multiple buses. If the average Bernie Journey has 10 volunteers that is 2000 volunteers, if it is 20 that is 4000, etc.

For comparison, Warren has 76 carpool events (only 22 in Iowa, 55 in New Hampshire), Biden has a handful and Buttigieg has none.

Additionally, I have talked with a friend of mine currently in Muscatine, Iowa, and the Bernie Journey there from Chicago had 50 people. Last time we saw volunteer surging like this was Obama's campaign in 2008.

I think there’s a high chance Sanders really outperforms his polling in Iowa. He tended to way outperform his caucus polling across the board in 2016, probably due in large part to him having the most enthusiastic supporters who will go through hell and back to vote for him

I was worried about that the Impeachment Trail might hurt Bernie (I still think it does somewhat).
That being said: Ever since this thing started last Tuesday Sanders is collectivly rising in the Polls whether it's a State Poll or National Poll.

Maybe that Biden/Burisma thing is resonating with the Democratic Electorate?

"He did talk about Sanders, and said in some ways they see things similarly."

Trump ain't wrong on this one.

It seems like Iowa is tilt Sanders at this point. NH is lean Sanders. Sanders is surging at the absolute perfect time, which means I expect desperate anti-Sanders attacks from establishment people in this last week before Iowa.

Make no mistake: The DNC won't surrender to Sanders without pushback. The wealthy limousine liberals do not want a Sanders nomination, and I wouldn't be surprised if figures like the Obamas and Clintons either endorse or make more comments about Sanders or in favor of other candidates in this last week.

Could he? Yes. Will he? No. His current ceiling in Iowa is probably ten points lower than that.

I get it. But to me it almost comes across like a punchline to spell out his endorsement in a quote and then end in "-Joe Rogan" as if he got Gandhi's endorsement or something.

Trump won the 2016 GE on unfounded promises, conspiracy theories, and outright lies, but sure. Go off, Chicken Little.
