He won because his opponent snatched defeat from the jaws of Victory and had baggage of her own. I doubt any other Democrat would've been that complacent and would've beaten Trump. Hell he only won the Republican nomination due to divided opposition.

Barry Goldwater was not against Civil Rights. He was against article VII of the Civil Rights Act because it forced people to do business with others on their private property against their will. Like it or not, this is a perfectly reasonable position, and it's light years away from opposing civil rights for African-Americans, which is what your comment implied. I'd suggest that you amend it accordingly.

Also, these three positions together make Goldwater the best person on this list, and the best president America never had.
