So exactly what is the difference between SNS and the more identifying Nazis?

Can you tell me about Dobrá Voľba? There’s no wiki link and I don’t see any time you mentioned them beforehand.

May an actually good force of the left rise from the ashes of Smer.

What is PS and SPOLU doing? What about the president?

I meant good in the context of Slovakia having a left wing party that isn’t corrupt or borderline reactionary.

It seems that Hlas and Smer not only don’t affect one another, but benefit from being apart, which is weird.

And it must be painful for PS to be unable to make it to double digits with them having the Presidency.

So what’s the deal on the rejected abortion bill? Who else other than Olano voted for it (or not) and what does this signify? Will they make it in the next 6 months?

So I’m guessing even now Hlas is doing identity building, sooo....what are they doing? It just seems that basing it as a personality cult around Pellegrini isn’t very healthy for the party long term with Smer still standing.

Wait, L’SNS split again? When, and what for, was this with Respublika?

So how have Fico and Pellegrini reacted to all this? How have they managed to differentiate their two parties?

In case we see a full government collapse, is a Hlas-Smer-PS coalition is even viable to take power?

Anti-imperialists in Slovakia protest proposal for defense agreement with US
Quote

Earlier this month, the Slovakian defense and foreign affairs ministries held talks on the Agreement on Defense Cooperation with the US, which is likely to be approved by January 2022. The Socialisti (Socilaist movement) has claimed that the defense agreement will compromise Slovakia’s sovereignty over its own territory and security and will drag the country into the imperialist machinations of the US. Earlier, the campaign group United for Peace launched a petition calling for prohibition of temporary or permanent deployment of any foreign troops in Slovakia.  As of December 23, the petition had been endorsed by 20,764 people.

Artur Bekmatov from Socialisti said that as a consequence of the defense agreement, US would occupy two military airports in Slovakia. US military presence would be long-term and would see the Slovak government awarding special privileges to US soldiers such as suspending criminal authority against US soldiers present within its territory.

In their petition, United for Peace has demanded the Slovak national council to adopt a constitutional law on prohibition of temporary or permanent deployment of any foreign troops on the territory of the Slovak Republic and to enshrine the right to peace in the constitution. It also calls on the president to ratify the 2017 UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
The petition has gotten the signatures of more than 20,000 people.

I would assume the Socialists do not like the invasion, as they are more Eurocommunist in orientation from what I’ve gathered.

Zuzana Čaputová announced she won't be running for reelection next year. It's kind of sad, but an understandable decision. Despite, or rather because of her approval ratings (around 50%, miles ahead of any other politician except Pellegrini) and outspokenness on human rights, she and her family have been at the receiving end of much personal abuse from politicians and the sort of people that sometimes get called dezoláti (best translated as 'deplorables'). She's was a small town lawyer before entering politics and her family isn't used to publicity and being surrounded by bodyguards because of death threats. The bar is not very high, but IMO she's the best president Slovakia ever had.
She was an anti-corruption figure and a superstar before her presidential run. If this is the reason she is leaving, it’s a very weak and disappointing one, especially given her relative sky high approvals and work done as president.

Which party did the “pro-chavista” MP go to that was previously mentioned in this thread?

jeez, really no one appealing to some sort of progressive left? I get it's central europe, but I'd have thought there'd at least be some third-rate party polling at like 2-3% that I wouldn't feel bleh about voting for in one way or another.
PS are very much the party of Elizabeth Warren, only more successful, and the Socialisti.k are jumping on entryism.

Ideally a new set of elections or just a caretaker government for the next few years would be ideal. I personally dislike Fico.

Same applies to post-communism with 'Ndrangheta characteristics.

You know, I was trying to work out what an accurate description for Smer might be, and that just about nails it. Excellent.
Smer is most comparable to the Portuguese Socialists and the Walloon PS in both actions and demographics. The elderly kulaks in Smer aren’t exactly the same social force in charge as they were during the communist period.

A cartoon depicting how liberals feel Pellegrini is making his decision on who to form a government with:

Maybe the EU should ensure a better deal to many Eastern Europeans.

No, and he didn't even stand, although with his whole MUH NAZI UKRAINE thing he'd feel right at home in Smer. The Socialists' current leader Artur Bekmatov was standing on the Smer list on 150th place. A lot of voters like to preference the last person on the list as an underdog (even if they often aren't) and so he should've been 100% safe, but he managed to win only 15,375 of the 20,000-ish votes he needed (the 3% of party's votes mentioned above).
What a shame, although they should have known better.
