Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

We already have 1 Ben Cardin in the Senate. Markey isnt that popular like Ben Cardin, their time have passed

Markey, unlike Ben Cardin and mostly unlike Joe Kennedy III, has beliefs and principles that are worth representing in Congress.

Kennedy endorsed abolishing the EC and filibuster + SCOTUS term limits today.

Ooh, I’m listening now. Put those nasty things I said about the Kennedys earlier on pause

The Kennedys are perhaps the most toxic political dynasty in America. They have produced nothing but meth addicts, killers, drunks, incompetent politicians, and womanizers.

Although I hope Markey beats him in the primary, I fear that we will soon have another Kennedy in the Senate, who could potentially be there for as long as his grand-uncle was. That is not a good thing.

Ugh. Term limits on the SCOTUS are a terrible, pessimistic idea. Some of the greatest Justices served on the Court for over 25 years, and some awful Justices served on the Court for less than 10 years.

Cardin is just as much of a party line democrat as Market, give me a break.

It depends on the way in which term limits are structured. I would personally favor setting a mandatory retirement age, at either 70 or 75. That would enable for someone to be appointed at around the age of 50 and to serve for 15-25 years before retiring.

This post is vile and disgusting.

They’ve produced men who could have lived off of the family fortune and instead pursued military service, insisting on being put in harms way when higher ups wanted them to receive cushy assignments. JFK was a war hero, Joe Jr was a war hero who lost his life in WW2. JFK was a great President, Bobby one of the more compassionate leaders we’ve ever had. Now yes they have had some moments that didn’t look so great but what family is perfect? No family is perfect. But they are a family who has given a lot to this country and your post is repulsive

Cardin hasmt had a competetive race either in primary or general since 2006 with Mfume and Steele.

Dems like Baker and Jealous have gone for Gov.

No I dont like Cardin or Markey, they are party-line voters that dont do anything substantial while they're in Senate.

Warren won't endorse anyone in this race because if Kennedy wins, and she endorses Markey, it would look bad.

The Warren endorsement doesnt do any good no ways. The Jewish vote is going to Joe Kennedy, with the Kennedys so close to Israel, and Joe Biden was close as Veep, to Israel. Biden will get the nomination, anyways. Thats why Biden and Kennedys are self sufficient in fundraising; as a result of, Jewish, AARP money, and Union donors

Dem senators mostly don't want Kennedy to run, though they all like him. Sinema endorsed Kennedy, AOC might endorse Markey, who insists he'll run hard and won't retire.

I still don't understand why he even wants to run right now. Both Warren and Markey are going to be retiring/moving onto another office sometime in the next decade.

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/09/11/joe-kennedy-ed-markey-challenge-1491098

A growing list of Democrats are becoming opposed to the idea of Kennedy challenging Markey. Chuck Schumer, along with Elizabeth Warren, Dick Durbin, Joe Manchin, and Jenne Shaheen are the most notable senate backers for Markey.

Kennedy also now has a senate backer, Kyrsten Sinema.

But generally, both the farthest Left of the party(AOC, Warren) and the farthest right of the party(Manchin) are uniting to support Markey.

I wonder why most Democrats are rallying in Markey's corner. Perhaps his decades of experience weighs upon them? And maybe some of them might have the same objections to the continuance of a moribund political dynasty, that many others have.
