Good point.  I'm to the right of Bush economically, but am a libertarian on social issues.  Personally I like the right and left division on economics and think the social one is erroneous.. or actually obverse.

yes, I've been saying that for a long time.  And if I'm not misinterpreting, so has Rightwingnut.  I took the little quiz again and I'm apparently at or near the edge of the chart on social issues (which is nothing like Kerry or Bush) and I have a really hard time comparing on economic issues.  Unlike the big-spender Bush, I'm fairly conservative on fiscal discipline in my personal life and I would govern the same way.  So this becomes fairly meaningless on a technical level.  Mostly it's mental masturbation:  fun, that's for sure, but relatively unhelpful in any socially darwinistic sense.

Notice that not one person yet has voted that they are where Bush or Kerry are Smiley

Well I'm to the right of Bush on some issues and to the left of him on others... So I voted "about where Bush is" but... When I think about it I'm probably in between the two.

I'm pretty close to Dean on every issue, except less interested about abortion rights and I favor tighter gun control, so in this poll I voted to the left of Kerry.

It really depends, it's hard to get an overall placeholder for yourself.  I'm to the left of Kerry on some issues and to the right on others.  Probably nothing am I where Bush is at though.

About where Kerry were before he started to position himself, I'd say.

Close to Bush on foreign poicy.

Perhaps closer to Kerry with regard to social policy.

Fiscally, I believe that economic incentives are better tools than regulation to accomplish the public good, e.g. to spur savings, enable the middle class to send their kids to college, and preserve clean air and water. I don't know where that puts me, probably right in the middle of the two.

About where Kerry is.  Some issues to the left, some to the right.

Abortion- dead on
Taxes- dead on maybe a smidge to the left
Trade- if Kerry does what he says on reviewing trade agreements, dead on.  I would have fine tooth combed NAFTA and WTO.
Gay marraige/civil unions- dead on
Affirmative action- smidge to the right, but Kerry has also been known to say it has inherent problems
Iraq war- to the left.  That's where I think he's becoming Bush-lite

In between I guess. Closer to Kerry on social issues, closer to Bush on economy, except for balancing the budget. The more I think of it I'm a long way from both candidates really, rather than in between.
