He’d like their tax cuts, but wouldn’t like their tariffs or their foreign policy.

William F Buckley says during this segment of Firing Line that Reagan had the portraits of Jefferson, Lincoln, Taft, Coolidge and Eisenhower hanging in the oval office. Which is indicative that he thought quite highly of him (for obvious reasons). Harding is far less notable so who knows in regards to him.

Not sure about Harding, but Coolidge was quite influential on Reagan since he not only represented the last successful pre-New Deal president (and cut taxes and spending), but also held office when Reagan was in his teens. So there was a mix of ideological affinity and nostalgia at work there.

I remember reading one time that Reagan often answered the question of favorite President with a quick, “Lincoln and Coolidge.”

Reagan was 17 in 1928, when Coolidge was still the president. This is enough age to have political views. However, Reagan voted for FDR in 1932, 1936, 1940 and 1944, and for Truman in 1948. He became a republican only in the 1950s.

Calvin Coolidge was a hero to the supply-side right, lowering taxes and eliminating business regulations.  While "The business of America is business" is a somewhat inaccurate quote of Coolidge, it does sum up his worldview to a large part.

While I don't necessarily wish to put Coolidge on Mount Rushmore, he was a far more successful President than he gets credit for.  He kept us out of war and he kept the Constitution as he found it.
