Well, no one can say it’s just Trump anymore. It is now the official position of congressional republicans that it is totally fine to go around telling non-white people to “go back to where they came from.”

So four out of every 197 Republican representatives have at least one vertebrae. It's nice to finally have some statistics now.

So approximately 2% of Republicans have principles. I'm surprised its that high.

My parents live in Brian Fitzpatrick's district. Lol. They won't be too happy when they find this out.

Despicable that more Republicans didn't vote yes.

At least one of them isn't running for reelection, so I'd hold off on classifying them with the other vertebrates if I were you.

That's why I only said that they have at least one. It's still something by the Republican curve (accidental spine related pun).

Can somebody please tell me the actual implications of this? Is it just congressional virtue signalling or something more?

I'm not surprised Nunes voted against it. He's pretty far off the deep end in terms of Trumpism. But this vote will make a good attack ad or mailer in his, let me check....44.8% Hispanic and 7.3% Asian district (57.6% non-white overall). And these are 2010 Census numbers, I think it's safe to assume his district has more minorities now than it had back then.

Lots of that Hispanic population is undocumented. The CVAP is more around 36% for Hispanic and whites are right at 50% CVAP.

Quote
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) flipped Republicans out by reading Trump’s racist statements and positions on the House floor.

“We have an opportunity today to condemn or condone.
Birtherism is racist.
Saying a Mexican judge can’t be fair because of his heritage is racist.
Saying immigrants from Mexico are rapists is racist.
Saying there were good people on both sides in Charlottesville is racist.
Calling African countries sh*thole countries is racist,
and telling four members of this body to go home is racist.”

LOL. I love it!
Good for Congressman Swalwell.

I appreciate Swalwell doing this. But wait, did he say sh*thole on the House floor?

Precisely.

Or lack of virtue.

This actually makes it worse. Conservatives weren't required to betray any policy or ideological principle in supporting this all required for Republican to vote Yes was to affirm it is wrong for the president, even if a Republican, to make a statement of over and grotesque racism and bigotry.

And again, 98% of Republicans failed even that low bar.
