This is something I'm wondering with issues candidates like Andrew Yang and Marianne Williamson. Assuming parties are consistent with the criteria to get on a debate stage an year and a half before the election (IE- one percent in polls, a certain level of fundraising) will someone run as an outspoken atheist, and do well enough to get on the debate stage? A respected professor or business executive making a point about how he can govern better because he's not going to rely on the magic sky man to fix everything would probably get some support online.

If Trump wins, then Kyrsten Sinema will be a major candidate in 2024.

I don't see why not. however, it'd be near impossible for an outspoken atheist to win either party's nomination in the near future.

It's quite manifest that Bernie is an atheist.

If you're asking whether a candidate who hammers home how they're an atheist & that makes them better than every other candidate in the race will qualify for a presidential primary debate in an upcoming election cycle, then no.

Sinema and Sanders don't seem outspoken about it.

Yeah, this was my question.

If this were to happen, it would likely happen on the Democratic side first.

A Gallup poll this year found that only 42% of Republicans would be willing to vote for an atheist presidential candidate, compared to 66% of Independents and 71% of Democrats.
