Biden's fundamental weakness is his base is not solid, many people seem to support him only because they consider him more electable, not because they like his style, in this way he is the opposite of Trump in 2016 who had had a rock solid base who never deserted him no matter the controversy.

What an embarrassing campaign so far from the previous Democratic VP. Was pretty annoying to read all the takes about Biden being a more appealing/electable candidate than Clinton, so let's just admit that Clinton was a much stronger primary and general candidate than Joe. Biden's announcement and platform offers nothing unique or inspiring to voters, so he will be rewarded by voters accordingly.

Now everyone can see why President Obama urged Vice-President Biden not to contest the 2016 nomination with Hillary Clinton -and it wasn't just because he worried about Biden siphoning off support.

This is Jeb! all over again. A presumed frontrunner who ends up revealing that he's woefully out of touch with the current trajectory of his party.

Can he even rebound from this past week? Like what could he feasibly do to reboot his campaign? I think he's gonna continue to bleed his support.

He's on the attack now, saying that what Harris did was inappropriate.  No one stands behind Biden, and his opinion,  except Mosley-Braun.

IT's funny how these politicians (especially older ones) all think everything's fair game until it's their own past views that are being questioned.

Yep, we can start a largely pointless war that maims and displaces thousands upon thousands of civilians but we have no obligation to help those people when the war's over. God Bless America!

It is still Biden's nomination to lose, but if he doesn't stop the flailing, Warren/Harris/Sanders/Ryan will be the nominee.

Brokered convention, they pick someone who has no baggage. This could go all the way to Milwaukee.

Amazing to see all of the hatred for Biden on Atlas, even among many DEM avatars....

Not my favorite horse in the race, but still Biden does have some major street cred when it comes to economic issues and a consistent Liberal / Moderate DEM over the decades as a US-SEN.

We can attempt a "purity test" of the type that Reps were forced to perform in the era of Ronald Reagan and use strawmen arguments about the history of the past, or maybe we can look towards the future and recognize that political figures might have made a bad decision in retrospect in the late '60s / early '70s and move beyond.

Regardless of whomever the DEMs chose to select as their PRES NOM vs Trump, I would be proud to vote for Biden against Trump in a GE. (Although I have other candidates in the raceb whose policy positions I support much more fully).

Honestly, I actually have sympathy for Biden considering that now he is being portrayed as some sort of racist supporter of segregation in some quarters because of a poor judgment call on the "Busing Issue" in Delaware way back in the days, where many other Democratic and Republican politicians made much worse decisions, and their political careers are still intact.

No, only incunbency has the advantage. Biden picked the wrong yr to run. 2016 was the yr of the older candidates: Bernie, Hilary and Biden and Trump. This yr Y2K with Harris.

But... it did. And it largely went unnoticed because they were scared of Mitch McConnell accusing them of rigging it for Hillary. Biden wouldn’t have done anything different. Looking at his record he would have done worse than what actually happened.

Would be fine.  Whatever it takes so that we don't have the current occupant in the White House after November 2020.

If it does come down to Trump v. Biden the race would set a record for shortest time between unforced gaffes. Over/ Under at 3 days.

Biden decided to forgo 2016 since he didn't want to run a difficult primary campaign. Now he thought it'll be a cakewalk for him, and that shows he's a dumbass.
