I thought it was ok, much better than the second season. Still a little dissapointed, it seems the main focus of the show has drifted from the spooky sci-fi material that made the first season so good to teenage drama. It feels like a corny Disney channel live action at times.

That being said, I thought it was a pleasant surprise that it was better than season 2, which was terrible.

They're running out of ideas fast. Still, I don't know if I'm even biologically capable of feeling disappointment after the series finale of Game of Thrones.

Much higher highs, but much lower lows than the last season.

Improved overall plot, but a lot of the characters were done dirty.

It was great. The ending was great but not as good as that Snowball '84 dance scene with the 80s music at the end of Season 2.

Loved it, and the ending hurt me deeply.

Pretty good, I just hated the ending. One character in particular did something super selfish and it just doesn’t jive well.

So is nobody going to address the fact that the Russian government apparently decided to build a mall in a small Midwestern town with a huge, sprawling high-tech military base half a mile underground, without ANYBODY noticing (other than just buying off the mayor), IN A YEAR?

Somebody has never seen Red Dawn.  Russians had mad skills back in the 80s.  Fortunately there were always meddling kids to thwart them.  Now all the Ruskies can do is inks with the internet.

[edited after finally finishing season 3--work can been such a hassle]

It's a nice touch that "Chernobyl" came out this year, so you can compare real 80s Russian technology vs 80s movie portrayal of Russian technology.

As someone who actually grew up in the 80s, it's a fabulous spot on reconnection to the time period and the movies of the era.  It would be cool if the Duffers could make the Upside Down creature something more three dimensional than just "kill all humans" (like oh maybe the Night King should have been) but honestly, I'll keep watching as long as they keep pushing the nostalgia buttons.

My guess is Season 4 will take place in 1986.

That's a bold prediction, Cotton.

Some important movies that came out in 1986, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Aliens (Paul Reiser), The Fly, (and Top Gun, but not real sure how you could weave that in).

The last two seasons have pivoted on a holiday (Halloween and the 4th)  Christmas?  Thanksgiving?

Definitely good. I'm glad they went with a campier tone and don't care that it wasn't realistic.

Having now seen the final two episodes, I regret my "good" vote. This season was a stinker. The Neverending Story scene was cancerous to the extreme.

As I was watching it, I thought it was pretty good. But after finishing it last night, I am left wanting more. I don't know how they are going to have the show after the major character's death (which was very predictable). But then again, it will feel VERY cheap if he ends up being alive and was the one mentioned in the mid-credits scene.

Overall, I'd give it a B, and was dragged down by the ending.

Also, HOW DID THE RUSSIANS GET AWAY???

Again, if you were around and went to movies in the mid-80s, you'd know the Ruskies had mad crazy skills.  If you can't accept that, then you'll probably continue to have trouble going forward.

Still a great show, but this season was a disappointment over last season.

Sounds about right. I liked it but I think they need to move on to a new villain already.

A bit dumb and childish.

I prefer series like Fargo.

Stranger Things was better when you did not know what was going on.

Back then, it wasn't a comedy.

They lost the tension.

This, more or less. Also, I did feel that certain established characters became less interesting and/or less likeable, but some excellent new characters made up for that.
