Quote
On the last day of Pride Month, rapper Lil Nas X, who shot to fame with the viral hit "Old Town Road," appears to have revealed that he is a member of the LGBT community. "some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm [f--- with me] no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure," he tweeted, along with a rainbow emoji. As Page Six notes, the song includes lyrics like "This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old" and "True say, I want and I need to let go, use my time to be free." The rapper later tweeted pictures of the rainbow building featured on his album cover, adding, "deadass thought i made it obvious."

As a bisexual guy, my gaydar was pinging as soon as I heard of him, largely because of the way he dresses Tongue

90% under his music video are references to the line "I'm gonna ride till I can't no more". 🤣

Good for him. Hope his success continues. Not saying he needs to become an activist but at the least LGBT representation in hip hop is huge.

For those interested, Montero Lamar Hill a.k.a. Lil Nas X has just broken the record previously held by Mariah Carey (plus that irrelevant 90's boygroup) and Luis Fonsi.

Even Mariah complimented him on his success with his mediocre song (unlike that Puerto Rican one-hit wonder.)

Update: Lil Nas X (together with Billy Ray Cyrus) has broken another record:
Old Town Road has been certified 14-times platinum, therefore becoming the best-selling single in the USA of all time.

It strikes me that the most successful song worldwide, the most successful song in the U.S., the most and the second-most successful single in the UK, and the most successful single by a woman worldwide are all sung by a homosexual person... 🤯

He isn’t like Tegan and Sara(to name a different LGBTQ musician), who can actually sing and write their own music. They also know how to have multiple hits.

I doubt he could afford a ghostwriter before he went viral.

True, quite true. He didn’t have any money. He does seem like a weird gimmick of being a black gay man who combined country and rap. Other people have tried of and it sounds terrible like Florida Georgia line.

Mainstream country is just mainstream rap for rural white people.

“Tan Legged Juliet” is a thing in that kind of music which objectifies women.
