And putting in Russia/Cuba/Venezuela/Belarus just shows your (cold war?) ideological bias tbh, all are highly bad but none are systematically totalitarian like some others in your list. Despite the mullahs, there is quite a vigorous civil society in Iran as well.



Uzbekistan hasnt been as bad under Mirizyoyev(?). Karimov was basically Turkmenbashi without the cult. Central Asia never really shook off Stalin. But We'll see what happens in Kazakhstan this week
