Your advice would be to feed the trolls. Occasionally people troll them back. But getting outraged at the WBC is a terrible idea; it's exactly what they want to happen.

The amount of outrage expressed for any given situation is in direct proportion to how much media attention a situation receives.  I'm far more disgusted with the Westboro folks, while I view Kaepernick as a guy who is merely in error, but you know which situation got the media coverage.

Don't mistaken the Evangelical Church with Jesus, there is no similarity or connection between the two, whatsoever.

Their antigay views are the same as the other fundamentalists.  Many conservatives were fine with their antigay protests, but when they started to picket military funerals that's when they went "too far".

Saying "God Hates Fags" is a nastier, cruder way of saying "God abhors gay love."

Conservatives try to distance themselves from these kinds of churches but its the same hurtful messages about gays that's being taught and spread.

They are, and always have been, very obviously some of the worst people in the country. Hopefully this is one of the few things that all Americans, of all demographics, can unite against. I would also agree that their relevancy has dwindled significantly though, thankfully.

Don't mistaken the Evangelical Church with Jesus, there is no similarity or connection between the two, whatsoever.

Everyone claims to love Jesus, even people who don't like Christianity.  Everyone knows that if they had lived 2000 years ago, they would never have called on Pontius Pilate to execute Him instead of Barabas.  It's kind of like how everyone knows that if they had lived in Germany in the 1930s, they would have been one of the people who opposed Hitler.
