To some of us it's weird that this isn't a thing everywhere, to others, it's the opposite experience.

Unless there is a sign that clearly states otherwise, right on red is almost always fine.

Some of us don't even follow the sign sometimes Tongue

Fine in most circumstances, if not it should be signed as such.

Opt. 1, also left on red from one-way to one-way is fine.

It's the norm, but it also SIGNIFICANTLY increases pedestrian and cyclist fatalities, and TBH should stop being a thing.

That's because you drive on the wrong side of the roads.

Freedom Turn (when safe, obviously)

Opt. 1, also left on red from one-way to one-way is fine.

As someone who is rarely on a one-way grid, this always feels illegal to me, even if it isn’t.

Also, here is Jeremy Clarkson’s take on right-on-red.

This is the only sensible response.  People who don't go right on red when they can are some of the worst in existence.  Also really annoying when people are not aware that you can go left on red when it's two one-ways.

That law does vary a little from state to state (a few prohibit it and a few even allow it for a 2-way to a 1-way).
